Day Trippers Yeah!

My pal Peg wanted to do some last minute Christmas shopping downtown Toronto, and asked if I'd go with her.
As we live outside of Toronto it canbe a bit daunting to go in , it s much more fun with a friend.
So we agreed to meet on the Go train in the disabled car for wheel chair partrons as there is only one and your bound to meet.Peg was getting on at Oshawa and I in Ajax, well when I got on in Ajax , no Peg in the lower car went up stairs no Peg there, went down the other side and her comes Peg thru the passing in doors from the other car.We both broke out laughing from relief at finding each other, we both agreed we should have had a plan B to meet in the Terminal At UNion in T.O> if one missed the train .It all worked out.

Into the subway from the terminal up to Dundas and Bay , Peg was getting some items for her son Matt for Christmas , that was accomplished with relative ease , lots of great choices and terrific sales woman named Shiela.

While waiting for her gifts to be wraped at Burbery's we hit William and Sanoma for free Esspreso cofffee and Peppermint brittle, same thing at Star bucks would cost at least 20.00, tastes so much better when its free.

Left there to go south to Eatons center, had not been there in eaons.
Went into Sears and Peg did a little shopping and I had a little rest in baby wear in a rocking chair, then we did a little more shopping downstairs ,
A charming man inquired if I'd sell him my goodies that were at my feet{ many many bags} while Peg was purchasing a new suitcase she needed for an up coming trip, I said a Thousand dollars for the lot at first but then realized two or three thousand was a better price, he then claimed to wanted to be my body guard to help guard all these bags , but there was one catch he wanted a thosand dollars an hour. I hired and fired him within a minute! It was very funny, his wife said that was the first time her husband had ever been fired.

Afterwords Peg and I decided to have lunch, it was almost 4pm by then we went to the Green something or other ,{ senior moment} , had a good lunch , thank you again Peg for that.

Had a lovely down time and conversation, went back out into the mall for a little more shopping and made our way back to Union to catch the train home.

I got off in Ajax, Peg went on to Oshawa were she was being picked up by Niel or a Matt, when the train hit Ajax the bus that runs on my route should have been there with the other buses to meet the train not have left the station two minutes before the train got in, found out from someone on the platform waiting for another bus.
Bus left at 840
train comes in 842
me wait till 915 for another bus, who when he came did not come to the bus sign but parked near the terminal , then nearly zoomed out of terminal bay, I ran out in front raising my cane to stop him from passing me and the other 4 people by.Idiot driver takes a tour of all the factories which are closed, why, thats between him and his demon God!
looping up from Monarch to Mackenzie to Baily along Westney to Baily and finally down Harwood to the lake and back up to Gorton were I got off.Time arrived home
950, its not priceless its retarded, it should take 5 minutes to get home.
My hands were numb my feet were numb and what should have been just an easy go home , the Durham transit once again made it hell.

Deck the Halls...............FaLA La La LaLa LA LA!

Yesterday morning my husband was doing the red bathing suit run in downtown Toronto, men wear red speedo's and a Sant'as hat and woman wear red bikini's or one piece and a hat, this run is done to raise money to tots at sick childrens hospital , there was a large turn out, lots of shrinkage for the men and headlights for the ladies Burr! You might have seen it on the CTV nightly news for toronto.{ check it out perhaps on google ctv news for Sat. night. Dan was interviewed , commented about the weather been unseasnabily warm, meanwhile the hair on his hairy shoulders was standing up straight, looked like a boala halo around his shoulders.

Moving on, meanwhile Serena and I were picked up by Barb's mom to go and help decorated her house a bit more, the boys had done quite a bit.
We made a pot of coffee and then did some decorating , after we sat with Andrew and Kevin and Brandon and laughed our heads off at Toy Story 3, the best was Mr. Potato head had lost his head and now attached his parts to a Tortia, that was hysterical.
Laughed so hard got the hickups.
We had a great time with the boys , Barbs mom made cinaman monkey bread, it was very tasty.
After the movie Serena went off to the mall with her fiend and I went home.
Watched some Tv and read for a while.
Last night put a fire on and watched It's a Wonderful Life" then went to bed.

Coping!

This past Saturday I was to go for Dinner at my late sister inlaws friends Annes house, to celebrate her memory. Also that of a another neighbours husband of Debbie Roys, who passed away the same year.
We did this last year and it was a wonderful night of joyous stories and some tears as well.
Friday afternoon rolled around I'd finished packing the cookies to take over for my brothers sons, and for Debbies family we all made different ones and split them between the two families.
The weather outside was quickly changing, and this change brought on a migraine, this left me stupified, I had to cancel going to the dinner and only at around 8pm. did a remotely feel like myself.
Today I'll drive over with my husband to drop off the cookies.
Next Saturday I'm booked to help decorate the house as close to what Barb did with her Mom for the boys. He rmom Elizabeth called and asked if I'd be avaiable, Serena my daughter also wants to come to help.It should be fun we did it last year. It was crazy busy.

Papa!

Has it truly been 5 years since my Dad passed away, and yet it is.
To say I miss him is an understatement, I spoke to him each day, about one thing or another.
I miss not seeing him at his chair in the kitchen when we go over, I miss his strength, his support his stories that made us moan' oh no ".
I love you Dad and miss you !!

Shake . rattle and sneeze....a husbands legacy!

My husband who you all know runs, also runs when he is sick! So that of corse he never gets over his cold which then turns into a cough, sneezing, towitt he coughs everywhere, there is not enough lysol in thes house to cover it. Also it makes me sneeze if I use too much of it. However it is a nessary evil with him being sick.
Saquesterting him in the spare room does not help becasue he uses the computer which then also needs to be sprayed.
This has been going on for a week , I now have the itchy throat the crying eyes the aches and the runny nose and cough.
Sleep is a thing of the past, its cold medicine and Buckleys.
Vicks is my new perfume and I now own shares in Kleenex, and yet no one is making me soup or dinner for that matter.
I look like crap , my upper lip is red from wiping a drippy nose and vasaline is my close compainion.
Did I mention I had everyone, not really; but it feels that way I espically hate empting garabage containers full of Kleenex.

So I send a warning to you , if anyone sneezes in your direction smack them with a heavy skillet , otherwise they will never learn.
Germs are not our friends!
Have a good week and stay away from the sicko's in your area!

A Mall, A Bridge, GPS and Three Hot Hungrey Woman and a Cat Burglar!

THE FOLLOWING MORNING WE HAD COFFEE AND WENT OVER THE PREVIOUS DAY AND WHAT MALL WE WERE GOING TO HIT NEXT.
OUR PLANS LAID OUT WE SET ABOUT GETTING DRESSED AND OFF TO A HEARTY BREAKFAST yum!
Into the truck , turn on the Gps and away we went , the first place we hit was the outlet Mall hovever it did not open till 11 am so out the Mall parking lot across the way to the Croc Shop Cabin.......its a log cabin with every conceivable type of croc and accessory to go with them, from teeny to gigantic.
Jamie got a couple of pairs for her grandchildren.
Then back to the Outlet, I recall going to this Mall with my husband , had no idea there were shops within.Thought it was just the outer stores.
In thru the doors and down a cavernous hall shops to left shops to the right and as far as the eye could see without squinting.
We went down into a department type store , the two shopinistas knew excatly were to go , I thought I'd rest up for a bit.
Sitting by the fountain I spoke to many people from Toronto Burlington and Mississaugia.
The girls came out and off went the three, headed for the food court then split and
planned to meet in the same area of the food court.
After a few hours and some shopping made my way to the food court after half hour saw Jamie , it was about anaother 3/4 oaf an hour, so I WANDERED OFF HOPING TO RUN INTO PEG IN THE NEARBY VICITY, DIDN'T, SO I HEADED TO THE ENTRANCE AREA WE CAME IN , THEN SURE ENOUGH THERE SHE CAME.
We entered a large ladies store , then made our way to the outer stores Peg and I , it was getting hotter and hotter in each store.
Had to take a break out in the cool night air.[me]

After some time we went looking for Jamie and found her at the correct entrance , found the truck and in we piled , bone weary tired and starved yet again.
JAMIE HAD YET TO ENDURE THE RUNNING OFF THE BRIGDE AT NIGHT, WHICH SHE DID WHITE KNUOCKLED BUT SECURE IN THE KNOWEDGE SHE COULD DO IT,.

After a false start we found our way back to our lodgings at the Red Coach Inn,
We gathered our bags and trotted up to our suite.
Bob the secret neighbour had not as of yet made any attemppt to be neighbourly. We did not offer any wine to him.
More wine for us and it was poured after unleashing our bounty in assorted rooms and closets and kitchen area.
We decided that we were too pooped to climb down three flight down agian, so Peg was gracious and orfered up room service, while we waited we listened to some Jazz and Later Peg noticed fire works going off on the Canadian side of the falls it was a wonderful and happy surprise at the end of a very busy day.

Dinner was Hamburger and fries and spiach salad with brie cheese chunks it was all good although some of the burger was not as well done as I like .
Afterwards we sat and chat and then finally went off to bed.
Peg thought it agood idea to put the food trays out side in the hall so that we would not awake to last night dinner, good idea Peg.
The next morning was sunshine and coffee again , we organized our gear and bags of shopping , made our way down to breakfast, first we walked to the parking lot with half our stuff, placed it in the back off the truck and went back to the hotel for our breakfst.Little did we know that a thief had his way with Jamie's car in the middle of the night and had made off with Peg's GPS.

It was a good thing we ate before the second lot of shopping came down , when Jamie and I went to the truck with our loads , we opened the trunk , what I had left I was putting in the back seat with me, upon opening the back door I noticed greeny blue crystal on the seat and then larger chunks on the floor, I said to Jamie it looks as if the window is broken, there is broken glass back here.
Jamie made her way to the drivers side and O.M>G> she exclaimed they've broken my window , shit said I and then looked inside the passanger side to see that the glove compartment was open and empty along with a missing GPs.

I went over to Jamie as she seemed to be draining of all blood from her face and told her to go into the Inn and tell them what happened and to call the police.

After about 1/2 hour Peg came out to speak to me about what was going on with situation inside, I had stayed with the truck as our stuff was in it.
One of the workers of the hotel offered to vacum the broken glass out for us while I was there,She was beside herself over this but as Peg said , we were not hurt nor was had happened could not be fixed, and true enough it was inconvient but things did get fixed quite quiclky when you think about it { window by mobile window replacement truck.}
After that and taking all our stuff back up to the room while waiting , we just were not up for shopping.
After all was said and done we learned that SHIT HAPPENS you cannot control what people do to you, but you can control how you react to it,

We managed a late lunch thanks to Peg again, then made our way via the scenic tour to the border with a few laughs....American's apparently in the rual area 's don't beleive in MIni marts or gas stations. We opted for 427 as it would be faster than the 401 cause it was rush hour time, Got back to Ajax our first drop off , were as the day was not over Jamie had to go potty and left her purse in my hall , Jerry her hubby came by the following night and picked it up and bonus returned my leg pillow didn't even notice it was gone.It was a deffinite adventure and not a ghost in sight!

The Good The Bad and those theiving the GPS

This last weekend , my friend Peg had organized a shopping trip to Rochester New York.
The Saturdy morning dawned in sunshine,Peg and her buddy Jamie arrieved at 9am, we thru my stuff in the new truck and off we went.Prior to arriving State side I learned that both Peg and Jamie have a dilike of bridges that are higher than 6 feet. We droave over one in Canada and two in the states that morning , Jamie although quite tense did a great job driving with Peg's support and mine all wemnt well, we did not pull a Thelma and Lousie over the cayon move.
The drive to buffalo was quick and smooth with a couple rest stops in between, when we arrived in buffalo we headed for the Galleria Mall, found our way in parked and started our shopping extravagnza.Note... GPS does not take in road reoutes due to construction.
These two women are proffessinonal shoppers of the highest caliber , they can spot a deal at a 100 paces!after 4 hours of shopping we met for dinner at Jack Astors.
It was a good meal with great conversation and we were ready to enter the mall with renewed energy.
If I get some things wrong its cause the placed was packed full of shoppers and we were up and down floors and roamed from one end to another. So much to see my mind was on overload, this is not like any Mall I've ever shopped in Canada in.
Deals were found lists were checked opions were given laughs were had and lots of bags were carried and the trunk was almost full at the end: but not quite!
After we made our way to the Red coach Inn in NIagra near the rapids on the american side.
We checked in took our stuff up to the room, shopping and suitcases and wine,

Oh My, up 3 floors it was the Red coach Inn workout. The suite was stunning decorated in mid centuray opulance, we had cheese and crackers and champane to greet us and then made our way down to dinner in their dinning room restaurant ajacent to the hotel.

After a much needed dinner we went to relax in the hotel, put on our jammies explored all the various nooks and nannies in the suite and had some much needed down time with wine.Had a door opposite the kitchen that led to nowhere and did not open we called it BOB's room, our secert neighbour..
Admired the view from
our livingroom window of the rapids across the way in the park which were unlit it was quite stunning the view across the way to the Canadian side as well.

The following morning I made coffee and after showers and conversation , we went to breakfast had my first taste of eggs Bennidictt , stuffed and raoring to we made our way to the Outlet mall. The first stop was to the Crock shop across from the mall were all manner f crocks sizes color and accories can be had at a fraction of the price, it was a neat place.

I shall continue with aour road trip shopping adventure tommorow, for now gotta go get some grocies before the big wind storm blows in.

I'm Cold to the Bone!

This morning was joy to behold grim dark ,rainy skies, damp leaves strewn across the deck , crazy neighbour cat who scared the bee jesus out of me at 6am, while I was sitting in the kitchen having coffee , gave msyself a lovely nasal wash ..coffee with cream and one sugar.YUK!It stuck its face on to the patio doors.
Yesterday after a highly evoketive and shrill conversation with my daughter I left home.
Made my way to the Mall in Pickering did some shopping and met up with my friend Marion at 2.30 as she was there for a job interview thought I'd surprise her. She emailed me the day before about it. I did.

I had gotton up three times this night, the third time my husband thought he'd offer some verbal help,"why don't you rub some cold jell on that knee, "gee Dan I've only done 3 times" and not its not working.............................LIMP drag cane..limp drag cane down the hall..." yet going down the stairs is pain free, I curse again....
time for tea.
Had a bizzare dream where everyone lost alot weight and I was left looking like a basketball shape. That's all I remember.
No more red grapes late at night.
Well I do hope some slept better than I , if not , I'm generally up between 3.30 am on ward give a call or stand by the computer....ps Bones and house are on at 4.00 am and 5.00 am

Love and Romangina Vita..........an Epic evening

Last Saturday was the official party for my son AAron and his beloved Donna on their engagment.
The morning went smooth as the rapids going down the grande canyon catagory 5 to be exact.
Her royal himey Serena had a gas pains and was in dire straits , Dan had gone running and I was trying to figure out what to wear and burning my forehead with hot curlers.
Dave was sleeping.
Afte Dan came home we shot out of the house to pick up the sausage rolls and the cake at Costco.
We made one unexpected stop at Marks where I managed to find an actual pair of black shoes to wear, that were more dressy than crap grey runners. As an added bonus they are very confortable and stable. Those are two inportant things when one is a woonky walker.

Any way back to change and pkg every thing up and downtown we went, it started to drizzle a bit but looked like it might clear.
Arrived to the condo unloaded all the stuff into Aaron 's and Donnas and then went Downstairs to meet the Menears to go out to dinner.

At 5 pm on the dot we spotted our friends did a meet and greet and chose to use taxi as it was starting to pelt rain, so a nice walk was not to be.
Peg and Neil had recently discovered an Italian restaurnat which they deemed as quite good and that the food was excelelnt, that was perfect with us ,As I trust their opinion.

Giving the cab directions to restaurant whose name could not be rembered was amusing.Ramingana Vita{ all things of Roman life}
Bless those cab drivers and the fact that Neil knew exactly where the area was.

It was a very inviting and warm reataurant understated and smelled almost eurphoriac.
The scents of various dishes made me hungry.

Had a fun waiter and great company and an Orso buco to make you sigh for it was that good, right Peg!
I was doubly happy cause they had home made Brassole'!!

After our meal and thanks to gracious friends, we headed off to attempt to walk off the meal but the rain perssited , so into a nearby bar for some wine and beer by a cozy fireplace, which when you come in from the damp is great but 10 minutes later its burning infernal if your menopausal.

When your with people whose company one enjoys the conversation flows the smiles are easy the time goes by all too quickly, before we knew it was time to head to the celebration back at the condo.

We arrived at the front doors and there was Christine Whishart in full bloom she and Alistar, AArons best man are expecting their first baby, its wonderful.

Into the lobby where we met up with Joe and Lisa and Lucy and Todd to the 38th floor.

The party was well started and food and drinks flowed so we had a little catching up to do along with many introductions to variuous relations and friends of the happy couple .

Although some peole were missing for what ever reasons work or prior engagments , we know their good wishes had been sent.
Dan made a heartfelt speach as did AAron to his future bride and it was a terrific night , its too bad the weather had not been better , on a postive note the company and the party were!

Wife on the Run: Happy thanksgiving my behined!

Happy thanksgiving my behined!

Let me ask you this," whose idea was it to get all the women in the western hemisphere to devote another entire day or two together to start cookiing like mad whores when the Navy comes in ,"? Then don't even get to sit down with the multidues to eat it.
If you did this your'e exhausted if you didn't your smart.
Fouteen people , 7 side dishes a turkey a ham 2 pumkin pies bought 1 apple pecan pie bought one bluebery cheese cakse for daughter inlaw to be 's birthday.
Made squah soup Saturday but it was so good ate half the pot.
Forgot to put out salad third year in a row and veggies with four dips as well.
All were happy all were fed, mom did the washing up of serving platess, I used paper plates,
a walk to visit my dad's memory tree doing well and then home agian were all left , Dan disappeared after the slamming of the last car door upstairs and I was left alone with tea and quiet reflection, it would have been Barb's 46 th birhtday.
I am always thankful for those friends I've had since childhood, and those I've made
as an adult, family and relative good health with a few cliches but then who doesn't have.
Figured out how to down load my kindle and that laundry waits for no one.
Have a great week.

The rain in Toronto fell mostly on my head through an umbrella if you can beleive it or not......its true

I stepped off my front porch into a torrential rain, walked up to the bus shelter , and waited , made it to the go station still raining even harder, got off at scarbrough station walked thru tunnel to st. clair ave, torrids of hard rain.
Left there to catch a bus on the street , 20 minutes later my backside soaked and feet the bus finally arrives any other time it would show up 2 minutes after I got to the stop ,made it to moms to do more packing.
Managed 3 more boxes , plus rearranging items so the other boxes could be closed and tapped as movers don't like open boxes.
Almost finally kinda got every one else on the exact day we are moving mom, because every one works days its difficult to do.
So as far it goes at this point next Wednesday we move lots of her clothes and kitchen supplies, then Friday the movers will move the rest.
Hope to get bed set up and kitchen running by Friday night and put up some curtians for her privacy.

The Day the Room Stood Still! no aliens were involved in this production

At long last the family room is no longer Rasberry..............YUCK country girl
It is instead beach sand cream, the floor no longer yellow parkay floors, but cherry wood plank floating floors, The blue wash side table is is beach sand cream with black handles, on top a dark espresso swirled lamp with faux cream and brown zebra print.
The walls facing the garage is large so I put up two 7 foot long and one deep flaoting espresso brown shelves , one directly under the other with a two foot gap in between. On the top shelf are a box a 1/2 foot by 1/2 foot in the middle a smoky white black vase from Venice at the end a white foot tall gourd from uncles garden.
The shelf below has a photo of Dan and I in the middle, photo of my mom and dad and at the end a witching globe.I am trying to find a large oblong unique basket for that middle of the middle shelf, so most things are in tempary mode.
I added black tab rings to my drapes over the two windows so that they have a softer hang to them.
Over the fireplace is my Large round mirror, in front of it 4 rattan balls to the left two espresso brown candle holders with cream pillar candles and to the right of the mantle a picture frame of Barb Lucy and myself.
The carpets are laid on the stairs are pale sage green and the up stairs hall.
Done for now, just need to fix closet door gap on top of trim.
The store is moving to another plaza which is a 45 minute walk as opposed to 10 minutes if that now. That happens Sept. 15th, should be fun its a smaller store so it will be cramped I'm sure.
That's it for now, caio
