rain rain go away!

Yesterday was a blustery day, but the sun was shinning,Took a long walk but had to use my cane as my left thigh was a little stiff and with the wind , my center of gravity is easily thrown off
Today it is cold miserable windy and dull.I woke up had toast and coffee and went straight to bed, put on Sense and Sensibility and huddled under the covers till I had to venture out to the store, as I not working today I thought I'd make chili and biscuits with chives and some peanut butter and white chocolate chip cookies, later this afternoon.
I'm almost positive that my gal pals Peg and Mary Ann along with Marion have almost finished their Christmas decorating.I know Mary Ann has started her window boxes and Peg  has started in the dinning room and Marion has started on the deck and in the family kitchen area.
I have brought up my Sparkling Christmas tree, its very whimsical with curly Q 's. Marion got it for me one year .Its on the mantel over the fireplace , that's it for now.
I did organize and place all together the other stuff  yesterday morning along with tree in one area so Dan can bring them up.
I'm done , bye eat something warm and gooey today cause I will.

A great time will be had by all...........................
Christmas is just around the corner and I haven't done a thing.
Nor have I purchased one gift .
There are no lights strung around the house and my livingroom is still upside down it needs to be completed

I am not having festive thoughts at all!
For all you have done the above , that 's fabulous , at least someone has the spirit in them.

The wind is not in the Willows..........its pounding on my forehead

I awoke  not to bad this morning a little stiff, came down made coffee and read a bit,. Was joined by Mr. running man who was going in later to work.
After he left, I went up to get dressed my left knee was still a little stiff at knee cap, got dressed tried on 3 tops which  did nothing but accentuate my flotation device around my waist, no longer the muffin top, all by the by self made.
I can't reveal the recipe,  I don't know how I made it.It just showed up one morning when I was trying to put on my low rise jeans , I admit I hadn't worn them for a few months....I was  mega pissed off.
Just cause some one quits smoking doesn't mean they need 23 more pounds.
I don't wish to say any more about it.

To happier news, today 31 years ago at 1.10 pm on a Sunday in November my Baby boy was born..............................Now a very handsome younge man, we have alwys been pround of him and his accomplishements and that he is a most decent human bean with a great heart and one heck of a Big brother to his knobby 19 year old sister Ms. S!  He loving and attentive  and sincere to his Lady the lovely D.  We can ask for no better,God is good.

When the moon hits your eye like a big Pizza Pie

Tonight I made Pizza, I try and make it every Friday night. Tonight's was amazing, I must say not to shabby,
It had sauce and artichokes and roasted red peppers and supersesta salami. On top some grated goat cheese and mozzarella. For Serena Ms. "I can't eat that 2009" plain cheese and sauce and peperoni.

I got orthopedic's for my feet this week to help with my alignment, they feel a bit weird, I've never had a high instep and now I have one and I feel like I'm standing on a wad of Kleenex in my shoes.
I suppose I'll get used to them as I do every thing else.
Just want to call out to my friend Peg hey girlfriend!
Also a salute to my baby sis Lucy who's become the cooking pioneer girl sou chef{holy Julia Childs}!

Come to land of the Ice and snow!

Could not beleive my eyes this morning , the roofs were covered with a sheet of Ice it was zero degreess cel.
Usually I open the kitchen window for a few minutes while I make my coffee, this morning I opened and closed it one foul swoop.Freezing air hit me like a wall of bricks.
I'd like to tell you about last Friday when I went to a local jean store to purchase a new pair of jeans with my birthday money, tried on 6 pairs of blue jeans .
Here are some of the problems I faced ,maybe you do too, to short in the waist ratio to the crotch, the zipper did not sit in the middle, camel toe in the front , too low in the butt when you squat, too wide in the hips, too tight in the tummy area.
Those were the jeans ,I then moved on to thin cords with spandex in them, they fit perfect,  a little long in the leg but hey that is easy to deal with.
I was wrong , brought them home somehow between Friday and Sunday these pants gained 3 inches in the waist and at least a foot in the thighs, I could curtsy in them, they were not washed or any thing..
Yesterday I returned them and I can't believe I'm saying this exchanged them for a whole size smaller.
Could I have been abducted by aliens and had alien liposuction, cause I still can't figure this out.
I realize someimes we girls can get a little bloaty but hey I was not filled with helium on Friday. Its still a mystery to me, any thought out there?

When you are low , know there places to go.. Downtown ...remember Petulia

On Friday, Marion and I went downtown to the Convention center on Front street for the Womans Show.
We got there a around 11.50,it opened at 12.00noon.
The line ups was at least 250 people long and wound around like a snake in the S desgin.
As soon as you go in there's a goodies bag to be had , the show was full of freebies and new and not so new products and plastic surgery techniques geared to woman. The food court was crap nothing worth mentioning.
The breast cancer and Ovarion cancer foundations were there, the breast cancer area had this new light instrumnent that can light up any bumps or lumps on your breast under two layers of skin so you can see   its true size  so you can tell your doctor and take approiate action. That was an amazing thing.
We were there for 5 hours , and would still be going on till 9 pm that night.
Came home on the Go train, and stood all the way, Stephen Marions hubby picked us up at the kiss and ride, got home exhausted , found my son had already arrived for the weekend, we decided to order Pizza , I rested up then we had dinner when Dan got home then I went to bed about an hour later I was done. Woke up 2 hours later , got up has s quick shower and went back to bed.Nite nite!

Daughter for sale cheap!

This morning when I went down to retrieve some laundry I had forgotten in the washer last night I came across a fiasco in the laundry area. The sheets and towels and what not thrown on top of the dryer not in it wet and stinky now, and my illustrious daughters cloths in the washer not washed but soaking in a vat of waters she neglected to turn the dial over enough to start the agitation. A jug of laundry detergent on the floor flowing in front of the washer..I have just spoken to her about this to which she replies I didn't know what you wanted me to do with the stuff in the washer , well common sense would dictate you throw it in the dryer not on top I replied.
I hope some day a child of hers will tax her as much as she has taxed mine.Or a friend what ever!!!!

" The course of true love never did run smooth" All righty then!

Yesterday was the 34  anniverasary of my marriage to a man I no longer reconize, and I'm sure he will the same about me.
Physically he is as thin as a rail < I on the other  hand have plumbed up a bit  , meno does that, remember the day you could drop 10 pounds in a week, now it takes 3 months.
The day played out as any other I cleaned,  went for my walk.  and then made dinner.
Although I baked a scrumptious carrot cake with walnuts and crushed pineapple in ait YUM.
We exchanged cards , I got cash for my up coming trip to Lake Lousie in Alberta,he got 6 bars of zest soap,
he runs and he smells so that the reason for the soap.
He went upstairs after dinner to watch hours of CSI anything and I read in the family room.
The romance was overwhelming, ah well, life is a mystery, I didn't even get liquored up other than tea..

In the Heat of the Night, Mom comes to visit for the week

Last Thursday it was evident that a heat wave was hitting the Province of Ontario!
At this same time my mom was invited out to the Burbs to get away from the oppressive city heat.
Dan the man picked her up on his way home from work, she brought enough food and supplies to last through till next Christmas or per chance the world should end and or we suburbanites don't shop!Take your pick and place your mom's name next to it.
Her stay was uneventful except for my constant shopping at the supermarket, I now know to hide all sale flyers when she comes.
Other than the odd dress mishaps , she wanted to save me electricity, so she got dressed in the dark, pants were on backwards, zipper and pockets not so becoming at the rear.
I informed her since the daughter miss knobby never ever shuts the light off in the bathroom upstairs, were used to large electricity bills, never shuts off computer leaves windows open when air conditioner is running , leaves straightening iron on for hours without use etc.
No amount of threats have any effect on her brain area. It does not compute.
Any how she went home yesterday morning with my sister Lucy who came by , she called last night its still too hot wants to come back, I think she might miss me! I know she never did when I was a teen that 's for sure.I said of course mom no one told you to go. I know she said ,so back she'll be at 3.30 pm today.I wonder what else she'll haul over here.
later all.

Is anyone out there?

I 've begun to wonder if anyone at all other than my sister and sometimes my friend Peg is reading my blog, no one leaves comments of any kind except my sister, and although I love her dearly I would love to hear from any one else, its disheartening. I realize I don't have widgets and hooseits and weather fairies and words in forgien languages you can learn and I haven't been acknowdged on any other site.
Yes I'm in a funk, and I'd like some out put.
How does oine get a weather fairy and a word widget and put on other peoples blog lists , do you pay them off?

It's always Something!

Why is it that just when you think things are moving merrily along, you pull a groin muscle, or your daughter phones and spoils a perfectly tranquil after noon to say I think I'll apply for a job at subway working 11 to 7am, YOU KNOW YOU HAVE ASK HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND YOU WON'T LAST FOR 2 HOURS.I AM INCLINED TO THINK THAT THE YOUNG OF TODAY JUST DO NOT THINK, WE WERE NOT MEAN ENOUGH TO SAY " USE YOUR HEAD" WHAT ARE YOU STUPID" WHEN THEY DID FOOLISH THINGS WHEN YOUNGER. no, WE DIDN'T WANT TO HURT THEIR FEELINGS, ITS ALL OUR FAULT , THIS BEING TOO NICE, OUR FEELINGS WERE HURT AND WERE JUST FINE. I AM NOW GOING TO THE STORE FOR WHAT I HAVENT A CLUE JUST TO KILL SOME TIME AND THEN ITS OFF FOR MY WALK.

The Torch is passed!

My husband has won the honor of carrying in relay the Olympic Torch from Hamilton to Niagara Falls on the day of his Birthday, Dec.20th as it makes its way across Canada to end up in Vancouver for the Opening of the Winter Olympiads.
We are extremely proud!! Yesterday his running group the Road Dogs took him out for Brunch to congratulate him, unfortunately I made a really nice lunch and no one phoned to tell me that this was going on , so every thing went into the fridge to have for dinner, I'd lost my appetite.
Tried to get some family members over but the wet weather and alternate plans made it a no go as well.
Another time....

Ahhoy there me hardies, my man 's gone out to sea

While in the lovely and stately state of conn. my husband wanted to swim in the Atlantic Ocean, I concurred knowing full well his Insurance was paid and that there might be a smidgen of danger out in the waves.
Alas the sea was calm and the tide was out so he walked on green sludge of wet seaweed beds for over ten minutes before he could actually get wet.
He swam to the buoy and back and back again, his stroke has was a little splashy and not as smooth as it could have been.
Cousin Emilio and I watched from the shade of the tree on the beach sitting on a bench.
When he finally arose from the sea, looking wet and disheveled and complaining he'd swallowed some sea water , cousin and I laughed.Well I said , That can't be good I said sarcastically!
He went off to find public rest room in a tiff to change and then it was off into the car with Mr. smelly fish man.Thankfully we didn't have far to drive to outdoor Art festival.
More tommorow....................

Wife on the highway /she who sits in car for 9 hours needs new bladder

We went to see my relatives across the border on the American side, in Connecticut of all places
very chi chi poo poo area Nor walk, very lovely people although all republicans, jeez Louise!
Big discussion on why Canada thinks G.W. was an Idiot.I simply said we have one in power now so we know of what we speak.
Ate a hell of a lot of food, met 2nd cousins and 3rd cousins and toured Grand central station and then took cab ride to the docks, looking very sex and the city, had lunch , hopped the ferry to tour half of Manhattan Island and saw the statue of Liberty [fabulous and awe inspiring} came back to conn. the commuter train.Ate enough to pop a button off my walking shorts and then went to coffee at the Sapprano's house Lenard and Josie's, apparently she sat waiting for me to finally eat something off the spread she laid , it was not enough 2 cherries. drank enough expresso to stay up till nest thursday and then finally fell into bed and passed out. That was day 1.
To be continued..........................................................

On the road again, its off to Port Perry

You may ask yourself 'what's so hot about Port Perry"?
Well let me tell you, my girlfriend Peg and her family live there and it makes me happy to see her and them so I look forward to any chance I get to go up and visit.

Today I am traveling with my sister Lucy and her friend from Sarina Nancy and her daughter Lydia as well as my niece Marina, two rambunctious tweenies.

I am positive they will enjoy the town and the waterfront there, its very nice and has an aura of being in Muskoka although its no were near there.

They can pig out on great candies at the Chocolate Squirrel and check out the butter tart at the bakery, they are to die for.

Well I' ve got things to do before I leave , have a great day I know I will.

May the man who was a joyful sweet faced child at one time and turned himself into I don't know what, rest in peace and eternal rest.

Land of Trudeau, Igloo's Cod, Quebec the Province that no one in France wants, Its Glorious and Free except when you pay 13% GST tax on every little thing. That's it for now gottta go put my Eggplant parmessan in the oven for dinner with my tyme and chive potato salad to toss as well.

Were having a heat wave, but there is no surf nor sand

This week we seem to be having a quite a few hot days and warm nights, I love sleeping with the windows open and feeling a breeze come through .
Had a lovely long chat with my gal pal Peg. its nice to talk to a friend and we bounce from topic of this and that and have a smile or a laugh, she's fabulous!
Last night my boss came by as she went walking to the lake which is near my house and had some Gelato and tea and some hilarious conversation about different ethnic customs, she is Siri Lankin and I am Italian but it seems some things are the same in every culture.
For instance in Italian culture if a spouse dies you should mourn for a year or three for that person and wear only black then balck and white and then color. Well in Siri Lankin its Black for three month's then black and white for eight months then white then color. Iam taking a break from the running epiloge to write some other stuff that might pop into my head.
My daughter has gotton a job at last at an animal hospital and I am thrilled, its what she wants to do and she will be taking a course to be a an animal tech. when she goes back to collage.
Well I am going to therapy now for my hip so ..later

Thanks Daddy for bing there....love you always Nellie

I'm overwhelmed and never paid!

These couple of weeks I've been a little peeve ed at how things are progressing around here for me and that I'd like to get back to some sort of normal,I'm sure the two others would like that as well.

The runners circuit is coming full throttle as I see in the distant summer future weekends he'll be away for this race or that race, I need a part time husband/ house fixer/ gardener/what ever else needs doing.
Not enough hours in the month never mind the day.
I wonder if Mother Theresa helps selfish wives if I prayed for help. or on the other hand that movie"my life in ruins" could be a nice escape for an hour and thirty two minutes.
I gotta go do my physio , so later you all!

Vacationing with Your Runner-One Word "Don't"

Most vacations taken by runners evolve around those prestige races ie. New York Marathon, Boston ,Chicago, Rome, Hawaii ,Greece Marathon.
There will not be candle lite dinners for two in romantic out of the way Bistro's.
Instead it you and a few thousand unknowns are at another Pasta dinner and the only treat you might get is a small taste cup of Ben and Jeri's.

No late night walks about the town,Nada,no espresso bars to sit and gaze at each other nienti,no wine, just him complaining he's got to get to bed.
No dancing it does not count if you the leap and stomp flaying arms about as you throw a hissy fit at having to return to the hotel at 9 pm.

People its early to bed , earlier breakfast on your own as the have thier morning run, then they return you get to wait around til their ready for a quick tour aroungd, back for dinner , rest on the terrace or by the pool as they take a nap, then they are off to bed and you and your book can be alone.

I can only say this always bring a third or pick one up along the way, someone from the area and who doesn't speak English if possiable!
So that at least you have a chance of enjoying parts of the vacation.

This is the truth, I swear on 22 pairs of elite worn down runners currently residing in my basement giving off toxic gases!

Goodness Gracious whole lota of Money!

Runners to their credit raise ginormeous amounts of money for various charities, this is an honorable thing to do!!This in turn raises awareness of charity and its all good.
I gotta say this though runners will run any where any time for any cause. Way to go.

Runners carry a sense of camaraderie they applaud and secretly envy each others triumphs they also praise and gloat on the failures , after all they do run as a pack[think of wolves].

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE PACE BUNNY:
[note Mulder and Scully were in no way involved]
He is a runners who is called or volunteers to set a certain pace time for other newbie runners who wish to qualify for more prestiges races such as Boston, New York or Kalamazoo.
To those of you who wish to keep up with the pace bunny you do so at your own risk, he will not I repeat slow his time soit will be intense.

To spot the bunny you only need to find 2 hot pink styrofoam ears attached to a hat with race times marked inside them.
Those who cannot keep up with the bunnies , are found strewn along the course in prostrate postions or if they are wise will deviate to the closet bar and watch the race with a cold one in hand...Cheers!

Do wa diddly squat didly He Do!

Volunteer...noble people who give freely of there time to help the disable and the needy.

Runner Volunteers...sadly these are running wannabe's or injured runners. They attend race events dressed in florescent jackets to set up the races, putting up Markers handing out drinks giving out race kits and Bib's[the big babies] cheer leading the runners at the finish line, Yeah!
Here's an idea ... why doesn't Mr. volunteer try to finish those numerous projects that were started around the house, albeit with good faith but NEVER COMPLETED!!
To engage runners in daily household chores is a race that will never end.
So it then falls to the Partner of the runner who becomes somewhat of a marathoner themselves, they run to the parent teacher meetings, run to the grocery store , run to the library, the doctor, the dentist appointments with the kids, dash to the dry cleaners; scoot to have dinner on the table on time.

They become adept at keeping the house together literally with duct tape and liquid nail glue[ thank you Aylmer]don't receive medals nor praise, there are no trendy signet moisture wicking clothes to wear, there are no magizines to acknowlegde and report their achievements....THey just DO IT! thanks Nike!

To ALL ThE MOTHERS WHO ARE OUT AND ABOUT

Happy Mothers Day, whether you live in an Igloo or a Villa in the Tuscan country side with an Artist or on an Island in the Mediterranean sea the air fragrant with the scent of lemons and wild oregano and sea breezes. To the mom making fairy cake like soaps in a hill side town along the Amalfie coast. To the mom in Canada , near the windmill with girl with curly hair in tow.
Look about your domain and the family you've created and be blessed in this moment and time.
Have a great Mothers Day!

A call to Arms legs ,Calves and least we forget Thighs

How appropriate that today I should write about Runners who can sometimes become somewhat paranoid should they sustain an injury.
Yesterday I , me , myself had to be fitted for a robot like knee brace to keep my Patella in line and get it back into its groove.Patella[kneecap] apparently if had not been sitting in its proper groove because of some funky hip problem I had which now has been addressed but this other thing was then discovered by my excellent in home physio therapist Destra.Who then informed my surgeon , who then gave me a priscription for a brace.
Needless to say its not at all fashinable, to afashionesta like myself.
Any way back to the real athalets, when it comes to injuries whether a cramp, fall or muscle spasm this could mean adding time to thier run or the worst taking them away from running![this is were the oragan music would come in]This is not acceptable, why would their highly trained bodies fail them?

If the injury is severe enough a runner becomes anxiety ridden, they go to sports kinesoligist for the lastest massage ,phsio and electrical muscle stimulation[yes master its alive ]
Runners who cannot run I would equate to a pinball in a pinball machine, too much energy and no where to place it , mind you a little yard work or repaving the walkway or painting the family room or laying those new floors just does not provide the same runners buzz.

They then begin the ritual of collecting varios creams , jells ointments[pue]heat patches ,cold compresses braces, therapist to administer strength excercies[not to mention emailing and clling each any every runner they know..trust me I've seen this live.
These pursuits donot stop till this falllen soldier is back hitting the pavement again.

I cannot sympathize when this happens at my house, after who is that women with 103 fever dragging herself around making kids lunches and dinner and doing the laundry for a week wearing the same nightgown the whole time as she hasn't the strngth to pull it over her head to get it off.

So I say to you with calf muscle suck it up baby!!!

Live and Let Sleep..social life for runners wives

Go early...leave early, this sums up any social occasion except if its a room filled with other runners then it could last up and over till 11pm.
Runners do not like to eat after 7pm as a general rule, you also should be prepared to give fat grams per serving.
Take note that red wine intake is not a problem nor is beer, the more the better.
The have innate radar as to any mayo or saturated fats that may have been secretly slipped in to a dish. When discovering this they will feign fullness and ask to take the offending item home for later consumption .During coffee the runners decline into a mega stupor, beware if runners sit anywhere
comfortable they slip into unconsciousness.
Now is the time to exit quickly, and to listen to explanations as to why he was so tired, how many miles he ran which explains his narcoleptic tendency.

Exihibations or not to Exihibat that is the question?

The only answer frankly if you don't run is NO DON"T GO! If you don't run other than trying out the new veggie chicken nuggets not much there to attract you eye.
It is rolls and booth's of running gear and bottles and out fits and shorts and t shirts and jackets and leotards, all with illuminating tape that glows at night or has the name Boston or a swoosh whatever on it.
For those of you who like me are 5ft. 6 and over 150lbs. spandex is not friendly in any shape or form it reveals things we don't even allow our spouses to see in pitch black rooms lite with a night lite.
My runner has often remarked that my participation in these social type events might be a chance to make new fiends?? I have tried to make eye contact [ mind you I was wearing my foster grants at the time] no one approached me, could it have been the then cigarette pkg clutched firmly in my hand.
This might have sent out a silent signal, I don't run, get it got it good!!
Lets face it these events are for the intense in your face , gotta have the latest stuff and not for us poor schmucks just skipping or walking briskly I might add thru life.

Excibitions or not to Excibit that is the question?

The wife the Run forgot!

As embarrassing as this may be to post , it has to be addressed as it can happen to you!
Never ever allow your runners eyes to leave yours, if they do you will no longer exist in his dominion. As the saying goes outta site outta mind.
This happened to me the first time I accompanied him to Boston. It was the day after we arrived and he was so revved along with all his other running friends outside the hotel lobby on hitting the runners exhibition downtown, that when the shuttle bus arrived to take us all to the R line he neglected to remember I was there in the lobby and left without me.

He noticed I was not present only
after a half hour ride while disembarking from the shuttle and going into the transit station.
I his wife was meanwhile checking train departures from Amtrak on the front desk computer leaving that day.
We were not in a happy place as you can well guess.
Needless to say, I do not bother going anymore , I only need one hint, if you don't talk the talk or run the run don't bother coming cause you ain't much fun.

Runners take your Marks!

Today is the Holiest of Holy days for Runners its the Boston Marathon Race day.
Monday April 20th is the running of the 113 Boston Marathon, which was first started in 1897 when the starting line was drawn by I believe it was a Mr. Brown and 18 runners ran the first race. Todays race starts are a little more contrived.
The Woman elitist runners started 28 minutes prior to the elitist men, the woman to beat is Kara Goucher, who came 1st in the NYC marathon of 2008. Just image it was only 1972 when women were allowed to legally run the marathon, I know I burn't at least two
push up bra's towards that one.
There are 163 countries viewing this race as its telecast.
The second wave of Racers are the Paraplegic wheelchair race, its starting time was at 9.22 * time winner Eric Van Dyke a Para Olympiaian is geared to win it it again.

Finally at 10 am the first wave followed quiclky by the second wave and the rest of the marathoners started as they all start in the town of Hockington outside of Boston.

The Prime choice to win is an American called Ryan Hall who ran London in 2008 at 2.06
The second is a Nigerian a tall Nigerian at 5ft.10 inches called Robert Cheraugot , his time is 2.07,

he is followed by another Nigerian with the same name but no relation called Evans Cheraugot
who's time is also 2.06.

So far its Hall in the lead, although he's loked back at the pack twice very unsusall to do this as it takes seconds of your time.
The results will be posted tommorow for those who like me, have one running with rest of the heard that is nondiscribt in todays race.
BYe for now.

Venting off from my left Ventricol or any other orifice

As you have deduced I don't care for running I can however give you advice from years of abuse should you choose to stay the course with the one you love.I can train you in how not to be assimilated.
Running in someone like me causes extreme rapid eye twitching and thoughts of Harri Kari[ race]did I just say the r word Dam I'll try not to do that again.
My husband started by giving me the" RUN AROUND" Just a quick run hon, I'll run over and get it for you, I ran by and picked this up, I just raced over to get done early.
He tried to run me down with this subtle infusion of the R word.
A runners mantra I believe is that resistance is futile''jean Roddenberry's alien spieces the Borg..". they all look alike, Sometimes I think what lures those unsuspecting wives or husbands are not the nifty outfits but the pasta dinners prior to the race with salad and water.YUM!
A non runner can also develop the Stockholm syndrome, if you can't fight em join em.

Run Fat Boy Run into Bean pole guy

When a runner takes up the road every day, physical changes occur.First their attire changes from track pants to more trendy {hey I'm a real runner wear}.
The body , well lets put it this way ; remember those buns ...gone ..if your looking for firm abs...its not happening..concave chest and ribs appear, rippling muscles...not on those arms try a little lower on the thighs, and calf's.
First place to change is the face it diminishes losing that precious fat that some pay thousands to have in injected, so's not to look gaunt or sunken in.
As I said the chest and arms deflate as the thigh's and calf's inflate{why does Popeye come to mind}As the waist grows smaller and the spare tire is left empty it folds over on itself resembling a folded napkin where beneath can be found the belly button,{attention excess
skin from too much weight loss does not ever become taunt again it has to be surgically removed with a knife!
Remember those firm tight buns well now their flat and kinda bony......sigh!
I only tell you all this so that if your loved one becomes assimilated{ star trek reference]you will have some coping skills to deal with it.

Marathon history lesson 101....

The first actual marathon runner was a Greek messenger called Philipedees{ hey its Greek and I don't know how to spell in Greek}He ran from a place allegedly called marathon{ would I lie to you}, who after delivering a vital message about an on coming possible invasion delivered the message and croaked!
I have deduced that this too may be the only cure to running addiction.

While one cannot dispute the benefits of running- thigh like frogs- strong lungs ,very helpful when balloons or air mattresses need blowing up.Viral hearts , these are needed since most of these runners work in offices or have cushy jobs.
The other very noticeable fall out from running is the putrid odor of metal that is emitted from the release of body toxins.
My children and I can tell you to the nanosecond when my hubby has arrived home from a run.
Not just the smell but the shoes strewn by the front door which we all trip over, followed by wet sweat laden clothes dropped on the bathroom floor, some days you might find a" surprise " a toe nail generally the big toe on the floor with a trail of blood droplets leading to our bedroom over the light beige carpet.
Who am I to complain, I'm just the Runners Wife!

Roam or not Rome

Runners in my Opinion they are the quasi Roman soldiers of the 21st century- not marching all roads but running them, not conquer and pillage lands but to raise vast amounts of money to wipe out horrible diseases in our time... their conquest is well timed!

In ancient time too toto

Phot op's of related running gear!

Sleevless with a V neck , although in black and white the photo does show its an animal print top with black thigh high shorts . Sunglasses are always worn on the hat , its a fashion risk but you gotta go for it.

To the Bat cave Robin!

Runners often congregate in packs and revert to a primal group, they converge in places called "Running Rooms" why am I not surprised! They merge here and share ideas, purchase wick absorbing clothes and try and buy the latest sleek air light runners. Happily chirping away until dusk- then like vampire bats swarming out of their bat cave they've emerge on to the road having donned reflective gear to avoid being clipped by cars and A TV's. Down streets they run meandering around and thru parks, back country roads , along board walks you'll hear the the tempo beat heel toe ,heel toe in rythem.

Road Warrior Wear

The "Gear" as its known in running lingo consists of T-shirts made of wick absorbing fabric, high cut loose shorts or skin tight long tights with reflective stripes on the side.
For die hard the socks must be cushioned.
In addition there are heart monitors; nipple covers { you heard it here ladies} the t shirts rub against their nipples and they bleed when they run.
Sports watches that give and monitor heart rate and track pace and keep time.
Then there's the open weave baseball hats and the sporty light as feather shades.
These clothes allow the runner to be free from all restraints, able to feel like the runners of ancient Greece
Except they do not generally perish at the end of their marathons now.

Mind Set..Running on Time

Runners share one thought- one dream-one all encompassing obsession..they need to run and to record details of that run- an on going record:what time did they run
the length of the run
the terrain of the roads, hills flats, valleys
weather conditions , rain snow sleet hail
wind velocity
how they felt during the run, after the run
any sprains, cramps or other physical distress
There are journals sold for just such a reason...go figure
On their return they compare the results to endless lists of previous training records hoping to shave off a second here and there.
When not running the read books about [what else] other runners, they email each other, share techniques{ what one foot in front of the other is hard] they compare and critique.
All this amounts to is its a catalyst for a faster run in a shorter time.
Lord help me!

Warning Warning Will Robinson!

I should have seen it coming, the day my husband came home and informed me he was going for a little jog. This he was told by his new found friend Caesar at the Gym told him would give him more stamina{ for what he sits and drives for a living}and with that first incestuous whisper he became hooked. Had I known then what I know now I would have put the knife to Caesar{e Tu Brute}.
Ladies , running does not increase a man's stamina, if any thing it sucks the life out of them!
Some days depending on the distance they can barley stay awake thru dinner ..let alone a night of love, truth is if there is any energy left lovemaking can be timed in the 2 minute mile.{ may i just say this is the only record they will ever beat!}It's over before it even gets started, as you lie there in bewilderment while herolls over and snores merrily away. Its only the photo of his childrens beaming faces that prevent me from pacing the pillow over his face and sitting on it.I doubt he'd even wake up.
Eureka.. heres another thought perhaps this failure to perform could be eliminated if I were to initiate foreplay with a 'starters pistol" and present him with a shiny medal at the end....

It is " Good Friday" for those of you of the Roman Catholic religion , its a day for inner reflection and to go do the stations of the cross. For the rest of you its a weekend as per usual.

I originally posted this blog to out ward reflect about how I feel about being a runners wife.
I had deviated from that course and will now try and set that right.

Hi, you don't know me, I am a woman whose husband runs around.
He does this on a regular basis, even boasts when hes' going out to it and with whom.
At times he'll brag it's to be a group event, eight or ten of them together. This usually occurs three to five times a week including Saturday and Sunday morning!
Some times he's been known to go out of town or the province and the country.
The Impetus of all this running around was to qualify for the "Boston Marathoon".!!

Tomorrow..... I should have seen this coming.

Have a great weekend and don't forget to get your Palms on Plam Sunday.

Stuff happens and things to do

I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to daylight ,as of late its usually 6am or earlier that I'm awake.
I had to take a sleeping pill last night its been over 2 weeks of constant interrupted sleep,I need more than 2 hours here and 4 hours there.

I stayed up late so I'd be very sleepy, and even managed to see Dancing with the Stars.
That french gentleman with the lean body and smooth moves just made my night.
As of recent I've not been watching all the time because I'm tired of the those people they bring in for comic relief, I liked the competitive edge of the shows from last season.

Today I'll ask you to run out the door and walk around the block and smile if you run into or by some, it will do your soul some good. I will be doing just that.

I'm going to phone m y friend Kathy's boyfriend to see how things went with her surgery yesterday, I pray it was all well and no complications.
She was diagnosed with having Cancer of the uterus, last week.

Take care, smile and have a laugh!

Happy Gloomy Monday! Yuk . Its overcast and damp and I've been running around trying to organize things for my daughters trip coming up in the next few weeks. She and my older son will be off to the Land of Crumpets and A Pub on every corner for a visit. My son loves England , what's not to love ...Girl Queens, Robin Hood a straight guy in tights, beautiful country side, Druids and Stonehenge.P lough mans lunch and tea and don't even mention, But I will Jamie Oliver. Yum.
I sorted out a carry on bag and a medium size suitcase with wheels and a handle, she does moan a lot if she has to pull her own weight or anything else, after all she 's only 19 years old.
Although as of late she has been a peach helping her mom as I am recuperating from surgery still and I am thankful for her help, minus the odd moan.
Today's agenda will consist of reading and laying a fire in the fireplace and drinking tea and eating Tabouli.
For now I must go and phone my mom or she'll think something has happened .. don't want to worry her.
Have a great Day and live it like its your last and tell those who matter that you love them!

I wasn't going to comment today but its so miserable out wet and gloomy,
read Charlies blog ... Fig's and Lemons and thought Oh she has sunshine how lucky.
My runner and I had dinner with my brother and his sons last night, it was relatively mild out for March and a nice sunny day to boot. So a Barbecue was in order, it was great veal cutlets and steak , I made the potato salad with thyme and olive oil and red wine vinegar , green bean salad , Caesar salad without the Ides of March scene and spinach salad along with fried cauliflower with lemon and black pepper. We were so stuffed we forgot to have desert!

I'll be running out to Costco today when the runner returns from his 18 km. run in the pissing rain.
As he has the car.He has to drive there to meet his friends at a designated location.
I hope he doesn't run out of energy for when he gets home cause I'm raring to go.
Well I'd better get dressed and ready , have a good Sunday and stay dry or sit in the sun if you've got it.

Good grief I'm bloggin !

Today is Good Friday and my first attempt a blogging, as you might think my title indicates some one running away from home. It doesn't , It's because my husband is a Marathon Runner! I 'm on the run trying to keep everything together as he is in constant training mode. Those of you who run know this and those of you who are spouses understand. We have a lot of time on our own .
I hope you find this blog to be fun, informative in some way and just a good read.
That's it for now have a great weekend and more to come Monday!
