Day Trippers Yeah!

My pal Peg wanted to do some last minute Christmas shopping downtown Toronto, and asked if I'd go with her.
As we live outside of Toronto it canbe a bit daunting to go in , it s much more fun with a friend.
So we agreed to meet on the Go train in the disabled car for wheel chair partrons as there is only one and your bound to meet.Peg was getting on at Oshawa and I in Ajax, well when I got on in Ajax , no Peg in the lower car went up stairs no Peg there, went down the other side and her comes Peg thru the passing in doors from the other car.We both broke out laughing from relief at finding each other, we both agreed we should have had a plan B to meet in the Terminal At UNion in T.O> if one missed the train .It all worked out.

Into the subway from the terminal up to Dundas and Bay , Peg was getting some items for her son Matt for Christmas , that was accomplished with relative ease , lots of great choices and terrific sales woman named Shiela.

While waiting for her gifts to be wraped at Burbery's we hit William and Sanoma for free Esspreso cofffee and Peppermint brittle, same thing at Star bucks would cost at least 20.00, tastes so much better when its free.

Left there to go south to Eatons center, had not been there in eaons.
Went into Sears and Peg did a little shopping and I had a little rest in baby wear in a rocking chair, then we did a little more shopping downstairs ,
A charming man inquired if I'd sell him my goodies that were at my feet{ many many bags} while Peg was purchasing a new suitcase she needed for an up coming trip, I said a Thousand dollars for the lot at first but then realized two or three thousand was a better price, he then claimed to wanted to be my body guard to help guard all these bags , but there was one catch he wanted a thosand dollars an hour. I hired and fired him within a minute! It was very funny, his wife said that was the first time her husband had ever been fired.

Afterwords Peg and I decided to have lunch, it was almost 4pm by then we went to the Green something or other ,{ senior moment} , had a good lunch , thank you again Peg for that.

Had a lovely down time and conversation, went back out into the mall for a little more shopping and made our way back to Union to catch the train home.

I got off in Ajax, Peg went on to Oshawa were she was being picked up by Niel or a Matt, when the train hit Ajax the bus that runs on my route should have been there with the other buses to meet the train not have left the station two minutes before the train got in, found out from someone on the platform waiting for another bus.
Bus left at 840
train comes in 842
me wait till 915 for another bus, who when he came did not come to the bus sign but parked near the terminal , then nearly zoomed out of terminal bay, I ran out in front raising my cane to stop him from passing me and the other 4 people by.Idiot driver takes a tour of all the factories which are closed, why, thats between him and his demon God!
looping up from Monarch to Mackenzie to Baily along Westney to Baily and finally down Harwood to the lake and back up to Gorton were I got off.Time arrived home
950, its not priceless its retarded, it should take 5 minutes to get home.
My hands were numb my feet were numb and what should have been just an easy go home , the Durham transit once again made it hell.

Deck the Halls...............FaLA La La LaLa LA LA!

Yesterday morning my husband was doing the red bathing suit run in downtown Toronto, men wear red speedo's and a Sant'as hat and woman wear red bikini's or one piece and a hat, this run is done to raise money to tots at sick childrens hospital , there was a large turn out, lots of shrinkage for the men and headlights for the ladies Burr! You might have seen it on the CTV nightly news for toronto.{ check it out perhaps on google ctv news for Sat. night. Dan was interviewed , commented about the weather been unseasnabily warm, meanwhile the hair on his hairy shoulders was standing up straight, looked like a boala halo around his shoulders.

Moving on, meanwhile Serena and I were picked up by Barb's mom to go and help decorated her house a bit more, the boys had done quite a bit.
We made a pot of coffee and then did some decorating , after we sat with Andrew and Kevin and Brandon and laughed our heads off at Toy Story 3, the best was Mr. Potato head had lost his head and now attached his parts to a Tortia, that was hysterical.
Laughed so hard got the hickups.
We had a great time with the boys , Barbs mom made cinaman monkey bread, it was very tasty.
After the movie Serena went off to the mall with her fiend and I went home.
Watched some Tv and read for a while.
Last night put a fire on and watched It's a Wonderful Life" then went to bed.

Coping!

This past Saturday I was to go for Dinner at my late sister inlaws friends Annes house, to celebrate her memory. Also that of a another neighbours husband of Debbie Roys, who passed away the same year.
We did this last year and it was a wonderful night of joyous stories and some tears as well.
Friday afternoon rolled around I'd finished packing the cookies to take over for my brothers sons, and for Debbies family we all made different ones and split them between the two families.
The weather outside was quickly changing, and this change brought on a migraine, this left me stupified, I had to cancel going to the dinner and only at around 8pm. did a remotely feel like myself.
Today I'll drive over with my husband to drop off the cookies.
Next Saturday I'm booked to help decorate the house as close to what Barb did with her Mom for the boys. He rmom Elizabeth called and asked if I'd be avaiable, Serena my daughter also wants to come to help.It should be fun we did it last year. It was crazy busy.

Papa!

Has it truly been 5 years since my Dad passed away, and yet it is.
To say I miss him is an understatement, I spoke to him each day, about one thing or another.
I miss not seeing him at his chair in the kitchen when we go over, I miss his strength, his support his stories that made us moan' oh no ".
I love you Dad and miss you !!

Shake . rattle and sneeze....a husbands legacy!

My husband who you all know runs, also runs when he is sick! So that of corse he never gets over his cold which then turns into a cough, sneezing, towitt he coughs everywhere, there is not enough lysol in thes house to cover it. Also it makes me sneeze if I use too much of it. However it is a nessary evil with him being sick.
Saquesterting him in the spare room does not help becasue he uses the computer which then also needs to be sprayed.
This has been going on for a week , I now have the itchy throat the crying eyes the aches and the runny nose and cough.
Sleep is a thing of the past, its cold medicine and Buckleys.
Vicks is my new perfume and I now own shares in Kleenex, and yet no one is making me soup or dinner for that matter.
I look like crap , my upper lip is red from wiping a drippy nose and vasaline is my close compainion.
Did I mention I had everyone, not really; but it feels that way I espically hate empting garabage containers full of Kleenex.

So I send a warning to you , if anyone sneezes in your direction smack them with a heavy skillet , otherwise they will never learn.
Germs are not our friends!
Have a good week and stay away from the sicko's in your area!

A Mall, A Bridge, GPS and Three Hot Hungrey Woman and a Cat Burglar!

THE FOLLOWING MORNING WE HAD COFFEE AND WENT OVER THE PREVIOUS DAY AND WHAT MALL WE WERE GOING TO HIT NEXT.
OUR PLANS LAID OUT WE SET ABOUT GETTING DRESSED AND OFF TO A HEARTY BREAKFAST yum!
Into the truck , turn on the Gps and away we went , the first place we hit was the outlet Mall hovever it did not open till 11 am so out the Mall parking lot across the way to the Croc Shop Cabin.......its a log cabin with every conceivable type of croc and accessory to go with them, from teeny to gigantic.
Jamie got a couple of pairs for her grandchildren.
Then back to the Outlet, I recall going to this Mall with my husband , had no idea there were shops within.Thought it was just the outer stores.
In thru the doors and down a cavernous hall shops to left shops to the right and as far as the eye could see without squinting.
We went down into a department type store , the two shopinistas knew excatly were to go , I thought I'd rest up for a bit.
Sitting by the fountain I spoke to many people from Toronto Burlington and Mississaugia.
The girls came out and off went the three, headed for the food court then split and
planned to meet in the same area of the food court.
After a few hours and some shopping made my way to the food court after half hour saw Jamie , it was about anaother 3/4 oaf an hour, so I WANDERED OFF HOPING TO RUN INTO PEG IN THE NEARBY VICITY, DIDN'T, SO I HEADED TO THE ENTRANCE AREA WE CAME IN , THEN SURE ENOUGH THERE SHE CAME.
We entered a large ladies store , then made our way to the outer stores Peg and I , it was getting hotter and hotter in each store.
Had to take a break out in the cool night air.[me]

After some time we went looking for Jamie and found her at the correct entrance , found the truck and in we piled , bone weary tired and starved yet again.
JAMIE HAD YET TO ENDURE THE RUNNING OFF THE BRIGDE AT NIGHT, WHICH SHE DID WHITE KNUOCKLED BUT SECURE IN THE KNOWEDGE SHE COULD DO IT,.

After a false start we found our way back to our lodgings at the Red Coach Inn,
We gathered our bags and trotted up to our suite.
Bob the secret neighbour had not as of yet made any attemppt to be neighbourly. We did not offer any wine to him.
More wine for us and it was poured after unleashing our bounty in assorted rooms and closets and kitchen area.
We decided that we were too pooped to climb down three flight down agian, so Peg was gracious and orfered up room service, while we waited we listened to some Jazz and Later Peg noticed fire works going off on the Canadian side of the falls it was a wonderful and happy surprise at the end of a very busy day.

Dinner was Hamburger and fries and spiach salad with brie cheese chunks it was all good although some of the burger was not as well done as I like .
Afterwards we sat and chat and then finally went off to bed.
Peg thought it agood idea to put the food trays out side in the hall so that we would not awake to last night dinner, good idea Peg.
The next morning was sunshine and coffee again , we organized our gear and bags of shopping , made our way down to breakfast, first we walked to the parking lot with half our stuff, placed it in the back off the truck and went back to the hotel for our breakfst.Little did we know that a thief had his way with Jamie's car in the middle of the night and had made off with Peg's GPS.

It was a good thing we ate before the second lot of shopping came down , when Jamie and I went to the truck with our loads , we opened the trunk , what I had left I was putting in the back seat with me, upon opening the back door I noticed greeny blue crystal on the seat and then larger chunks on the floor, I said to Jamie it looks as if the window is broken, there is broken glass back here.
Jamie made her way to the drivers side and O.M>G> she exclaimed they've broken my window , shit said I and then looked inside the passanger side to see that the glove compartment was open and empty along with a missing GPs.

I went over to Jamie as she seemed to be draining of all blood from her face and told her to go into the Inn and tell them what happened and to call the police.

After about 1/2 hour Peg came out to speak to me about what was going on with situation inside, I had stayed with the truck as our stuff was in it.
One of the workers of the hotel offered to vacum the broken glass out for us while I was there,She was beside herself over this but as Peg said , we were not hurt nor was had happened could not be fixed, and true enough it was inconvient but things did get fixed quite quiclky when you think about it { window by mobile window replacement truck.}
After that and taking all our stuff back up to the room while waiting , we just were not up for shopping.
After all was said and done we learned that SHIT HAPPENS you cannot control what people do to you, but you can control how you react to it,

We managed a late lunch thanks to Peg again, then made our way via the scenic tour to the border with a few laughs....American's apparently in the rual area 's don't beleive in MIni marts or gas stations. We opted for 427 as it would be faster than the 401 cause it was rush hour time, Got back to Ajax our first drop off , were as the day was not over Jamie had to go potty and left her purse in my hall , Jerry her hubby came by the following night and picked it up and bonus returned my leg pillow didn't even notice it was gone.It was a deffinite adventure and not a ghost in sight!

The Good The Bad and those theiving the GPS

This last weekend , my friend Peg had organized a shopping trip to Rochester New York.
The Saturdy morning dawned in sunshine,Peg and her buddy Jamie arrieved at 9am, we thru my stuff in the new truck and off we went.Prior to arriving State side I learned that both Peg and Jamie have a dilike of bridges that are higher than 6 feet. We droave over one in Canada and two in the states that morning , Jamie although quite tense did a great job driving with Peg's support and mine all wemnt well, we did not pull a Thelma and Lousie over the cayon move.
The drive to buffalo was quick and smooth with a couple rest stops in between, when we arrived in buffalo we headed for the Galleria Mall, found our way in parked and started our shopping extravagnza.Note... GPS does not take in road reoutes due to construction.
These two women are proffessinonal shoppers of the highest caliber , they can spot a deal at a 100 paces!after 4 hours of shopping we met for dinner at Jack Astors.
It was a good meal with great conversation and we were ready to enter the mall with renewed energy.
If I get some things wrong its cause the placed was packed full of shoppers and we were up and down floors and roamed from one end to another. So much to see my mind was on overload, this is not like any Mall I've ever shopped in Canada in.
Deals were found lists were checked opions were given laughs were had and lots of bags were carried and the trunk was almost full at the end: but not quite!
After we made our way to the Red coach Inn in NIagra near the rapids on the american side.
We checked in took our stuff up to the room, shopping and suitcases and wine,

Oh My, up 3 floors it was the Red coach Inn workout. The suite was stunning decorated in mid centuray opulance, we had cheese and crackers and champane to greet us and then made our way down to dinner in their dinning room restaurant ajacent to the hotel.

After a much needed dinner we went to relax in the hotel, put on our jammies explored all the various nooks and nannies in the suite and had some much needed down time with wine.Had a door opposite the kitchen that led to nowhere and did not open we called it BOB's room, our secert neighbour..
Admired the view from
our livingroom window of the rapids across the way in the park which were unlit it was quite stunning the view across the way to the Canadian side as well.

The following morning I made coffee and after showers and conversation , we went to breakfast had my first taste of eggs Bennidictt , stuffed and raoring to we made our way to the Outlet mall. The first stop was to the Crock shop across from the mall were all manner f crocks sizes color and accories can be had at a fraction of the price, it was a neat place.

I shall continue with aour road trip shopping adventure tommorow, for now gotta go get some grocies before the big wind storm blows in.

I'm Cold to the Bone!

This morning was joy to behold grim dark ,rainy skies, damp leaves strewn across the deck , crazy neighbour cat who scared the bee jesus out of me at 6am, while I was sitting in the kitchen having coffee , gave msyself a lovely nasal wash ..coffee with cream and one sugar.YUK!It stuck its face on to the patio doors.
Yesterday after a highly evoketive and shrill conversation with my daughter I left home.
Made my way to the Mall in Pickering did some shopping and met up with my friend Marion at 2.30 as she was there for a job interview thought I'd surprise her. She emailed me the day before about it. I did.
We had a lovely coffee then walked to her house and then Dan picked me up at about 5.30 came home made stir fry , watched Bones and Greys , I just knew Christine was going to blow and then quit.
Torres was used and tossed which Mc steamy knew was going to happen and warned her about.

Dawn of the Dammed

Two entire nights where you go to bed and then are up for what 6 hours again.
First its the bathroom run , then its the night sweats and then just to top it off the knee pain and leg cramp combo.
I had gotton up three times this night, the third time my husband thought he'd offer some verbal help,"why don't you rub some cold jell on that knee, "gee Dan I've only done 3 times" and not its not working.............................LIMP drag cane..limp drag cane down the hall..." yet going down the stairs is pain free, I curse again....
time for tea.
Had a bizzare dream where everyone lost alot weight and I was left looking like a basketball shape. That's all I remember.
No more red grapes late at night.
Well I do hope some slept better than I , if not , I'm generally up between 3.30 am on ward give a call or stand by the computer....ps Bones and house are on at 4.00 am and 5.00 am

Love and Romangina Vita..........an Epic evening

Last Saturday was the official party for my son AAron and his beloved Donna on their engagment.
The morning went smooth as the rapids going down the grande canyon catagory 5 to be exact.
Her royal himey Serena had a gas pains and was in dire straits , Dan had gone running and I was trying to figure out what to wear and burning my forehead with hot curlers.
Dave was sleeping.
Afte Dan came home we shot out of the house to pick up the sausage rolls and the cake at Costco.
We made one unexpected stop at Marks where I managed to find an actual pair of black shoes to wear, that were more dressy than crap grey runners. As an added bonus they are very confortable and stable. Those are two inportant things when one is a woonky walker.

Any way back to change and pkg every thing up and downtown we went, it started to drizzle a bit but looked like it might clear.
Arrived to the condo unloaded all the stuff into Aaron 's and Donnas and then went Downstairs to meet the Menears to go out to dinner.

At 5 pm on the dot we spotted our friends did a meet and greet and chose to use taxi as it was starting to pelt rain, so a nice walk was not to be.
Peg and Neil had recently discovered an Italian restaurnat which they deemed as quite good and that the food was excelelnt, that was perfect with us ,As I trust their opinion.

Giving the cab directions to restaurant whose name could not be rembered was amusing.Ramingana Vita{ all things of Roman life}
Bless those cab drivers and the fact that Neil knew exactly where the area was.

It was a very inviting and warm reataurant understated and smelled almost eurphoriac.
The scents of various dishes made me hungry.

Had a fun waiter and great company and an Orso buco to make you sigh for it was that good, right Peg!
I was doubly happy cause they had home made Brassole'!!

After our meal and thanks to gracious friends, we headed off to attempt to walk off the meal but the rain perssited , so into a nearby bar for some wine and beer by a cozy fireplace, which when you come in from the damp is great but 10 minutes later its burning infernal if your menopausal.

When your with people whose company one enjoys the conversation flows the smiles are easy the time goes by all too quickly, before we knew it was time to head to the celebration back at the condo.

We arrived at the front doors and there was Christine Whishart in full bloom she and Alistar, AArons best man are expecting their first baby, its wonderful.

Into the lobby where we met up with Joe and Lisa and Lucy and Todd to the 38th floor.

The party was well started and food and drinks flowed so we had a little catching up to do along with many introductions to variuous relations and friends of the happy couple .

Although some peole were missing for what ever reasons work or prior engagments , we know their good wishes had been sent.
Dan made a heartfelt speach as did AAron to his future bride and it was a terrific night , its too bad the weather had not been better , on a postive note the company and the party were!

Wife on the Run: Happy thanksgiving my behined!

Wife on the Run: Happy thanksgiving my behined!

Happy thanksgiving my behined!

Let me ask you this," whose idea was it to get all the women in the western hemisphere to devote another entire day or two together to start cookiing like mad whores when the Navy comes in ,"? Then don't even get to sit down with the multidues to eat it.
If you did this your'e exhausted if you didn't your smart.
Fouteen people , 7 side dishes a turkey a ham 2 pumkin pies bought 1 apple pecan pie bought one bluebery cheese cakse for daughter inlaw to be 's birthday.
Made squah soup Saturday but it was so good ate half the pot.
Forgot to put out salad third year in a row and veggies with four dips as well.
All were happy all were fed, mom did the washing up of serving platess, I used paper plates,
a walk to visit my dad's memory tree doing well and then home agian were all left , Dan disappeared after the slamming of the last car door upstairs and I was left alone with tea and quiet reflection, it would have been Barb's 46 th birhtday.
I am always thankful for those friends I've had since childhood, and those I've made
as an adult, family and relative good health with a few cliches but then who doesn't have.
Figured out how to down load my kindle and that laundry waits for no one.
Have a great week.

The rain in Toronto fell mostly on my head through an umbrella if you can beleive it or not......its true

I stepped off my front porch into a torrential rain, walked up to the bus shelter , and waited , made it to the go station still raining even harder, got off at scarbrough station walked thru tunnel to st. clair ave, torrids of hard rain.
Left there to catch a bus on the street , 20 minutes later my backside soaked and feet the bus finally arrives any other time it would show up 2 minutes after I got to the stop ,made it to moms to do more packing.
Managed 3 more boxes , plus rearranging items so the other boxes could be closed and tapped as movers don't like open boxes.
Almost finally kinda got every one else on the exact day we are moving mom, because every one works days its difficult to do.
So as far it goes at this point next Wednesday we move lots of her clothes and kitchen supplies, then Friday the movers will move the rest.
Hope to get bed set up and kitchen running by Friday night and put up some curtians for her privacy.

The Day the Room Stood Still! no aliens were involved in this production

At long last the family room is no longer Rasberry..............YUCK country girl
It is instead beach sand cream, the floor no longer yellow parkay floors, but cherry wood plank floating floors, The blue wash side table is is beach sand cream with black handles, on top a dark espresso swirled lamp with faux cream and brown zebra print.
The walls facing the garage is large so I put up two 7 foot long and one deep flaoting espresso brown shelves , one directly under the other with a two foot gap in between. On the top shelf are a box a 1/2 foot by 1/2 foot in the middle a smoky white black vase from Venice at the end a white foot tall gourd from uncles garden.
The shelf below has a photo of Dan and I in the middle, photo of my mom and dad and at the end a witching globe.I am trying to find a large oblong unique basket for that middle of the middle shelf, so most things are in tempary mode.
I added black tab rings to my drapes over the two windows so that they have a softer hang to them.
Over the fireplace is my Large round mirror, in front of it 4 rattan balls to the left two espresso brown candle holders with cream pillar candles and to the right of the mantle a picture frame of Barb Lucy and myself.
The carpets are laid on the stairs are pale sage green and the up stairs hall.
Done for now, just need to fix closet door gap on top of trim.
The store is moving to another plaza which is a 45 minute walk as opposed to 10 minutes if that now. That happens Sept. 15th, should be fun its a smaller store so it will be cramped I'm sure.
That's it for now, caio

InTo the deep!

Today was girly morning , getting a check up and some blood work and physical in the nether regions!
Its dark and no ones knows what goes on there when left alone, so the good doctor has to take a look and say .Hey its all good , then you can redress again and leave.
There is just something silly about sitting on wax paper with only the top of you clothed and rest is buck naked , cheeks splayed and white ankle sox's borders on the ridculous.
Even siller  was waiting in this state for 20 minutes, what if there had been a fire?, how fast could I have gotten dressed and grabbed my purse and shoes and my sunglaases that fell behind the chair.Would I have to have run through 2 doors and a crowd of 8 pregnant women to exit the stairs  dragging wax paper behind me still attached to the roll.
Luckily it didn't happen and I need not be tramatized in such a manner, but you gotta wonder sometimes when your in those funny postions.
It rained later this afternoon , but its still humid down here by the lake.
Gotta go get the laundry I threw in this morning  and start dinner.

Thursday, August 5, 2010

And now for something completley different

I have had enough of that discusting carpet on the stairs and hall its 27 years old , thread bare and stains that refuse to leave even with blow torches.
Home depot had a flat rate isnstallation fee going on also a defered payment plan, so Misty green is the shade a pale light biege green , they came yesterdy to measure , Dan has to start removing the old crap carpet, he aslo removed the parkay from the family room as he intends to install the flooring we bought over a year .
He took a break yesterday as his back was sore from shoveling out the parkay and then going to the dump with 9 boxes of it.

{last Friday we took my mom home from my sisters house] but the heat of Monday caused her to go back there Monday night , my sister went to get  her then.

On Last Friday my son came home with Donna for the weekend as did Serenas boyfriend Dave, the house was full, and very busy ,

I 'm sur e my mom will be back here at some point soon ass I understand from face book my neice said they are going away to Sarina.
I'm doing some laundry then get the room ready agin just incase for mom. She's like a pop up doll never know were she'll show up.

Slowly I turn step by step inch by inch...............yep we went to Niagra Falls

Last Thursday we went to Niagra flals left at 8am and arrived there around 11 am.
We decided to go to the American falls first as we had never seen them from their side, and so we did the Park area is quite nice lots of greenery and path's and benches along the route. The bridal veil falls are the smaller one to your right if looking from the Canadian side over, inbetween is Goat Island and their falls.
Before heading back we went for lunch at the Old Coach house a very nice restaurant that has a great view of the rapids from the outside patio were we ate.
Then we made the mistake of going to the outlet mall, we promplly got lost in a neighbour hood I can only describe as very scary delapitated  and not freindly looking.Ended up near the river and asked for directions from some man driving a Ram truck who said we picked a bad area to get lost in and gave us the quickest directins out , came back over the border and went to park and then go on the Maid of the Mist.
After living here in Canada for over 50 years I thought its ridiculous that I've never been on it, so we lined up and got our poncho's and off we went right to the falls , there was a beautiful rainbow and it is spectacular to feel the currrent along with the msit and the roar of the falls all at once, well worth it only 16 per person and not at all scarry.
Afterwords went for a drink and mae our way up to Lundy lane and dinner at Kelsys, on the way home felt very ill , spent the night sick forom the food there till 3am , had no more to give up.Left the mess for Dan to clean up in the morning, which he did.
All in all it was a fun and enjoyable I just never have luck eating out there in Niagra falls, this was my 4th attempt at it.Next time I am brining a paperbag lunch made at home.

These runners were made for walking , through the woods down the windey path

We finally went for a walk to Rotary park not today but on Thursday, along the beach trail which is lovely as there is a great deal of tree's and its shaded.I walked according to Mr. Pedometer 3 kilometers that morning.
There was a brisk wind from across the lake and it was perfect, gave you a lot of energy compared to the previous hot and humid days.
Saw a path which led off to a secluded beach were apparently it seemed someone was living they had some old lawn chairs and a fire pit and a stack of wood near the fire pit , then I saw a pair of track pants peaking beneath some very low overhanging tree's and told my husband there was someone hiding there as track pants don't stand on their own with black and white runners attached to them.
We casually left the beach so that who ever thought we didn't see him or her.

Its sad to think that someone has to hid away so people don't know they don't have a place to live , in Ajax you just don't see it as prevalent as in Toronto, although I'm sure its here too and in other areas , we do have soup a kitchen and food banks so we are not immune.

Any how made our way home Dan went to get some cold cuts for lunch I got dropped off at home to ice a sore spot on my knee.

Had a nice lunch a couple of beers and just went about the usual tidy up for me and Dan went to do some running organization stuff.Once again this happened during the week not today, just to clarify.Dan is lake placid today for some tri race.

This is the week that was! No I am not Walter Cronkite

This week has been going fast went Swimming on Tuesday for a few hours at the rec center really gave my hips a work out also did my therapy that day as well.
Worked Wednesday morning then went shopping with Dan for Italian ingredients at Longos they have a vast selection of stuff , Italian food basics you can't find at other supermarkets.
Had a little visit with my mom at my sisters house brought her some tiny eggplant to put into her sauce and Italian squash so she could make a squash soup and some rapini for lots of calcium.
Tuesday night went for a drive to Shoal point in Ajax to look at the extension of the bike and walk way trails very nice lots of benches in the shade there of coarse all  the she-she  poo poo houses are there nothing less than 4,000 square feet.
Last night was quite Dan's sister dropped in for a bit and left , did some cleaning and then a shower, watched a bit of a movie but fell asleep.
Want o go for a walk down at Rotary park this morning get Dan to drive down and then start walking.

Sorry and and Old maid old games but still fun

Last night drove to my sisters to have visit and say hi to my mom who is there for the duration of this heat wave.
During the course of the evening my niece Marina asked if I would play old maid with her, it was a fun game and we had a nice time lots of giggles.
Then we moved on to Sorry , which turned into a laugh a minute ,what with practicing her french and mine and trying to catch her faster than lightening movements across the board ,  I'm pretty sure she skipped over a few spots.
With all the guffawing we attracted my husband , who was told and I quote" we are playing "Sorry" uncle Dan and" Sorry" you can't play"This started more laughing on our part not  to mention Marina was snorting , this made me laugh even more which then brought her Dad in and then explaining it to him made matters all the more silly.
After the second game we had to leave to pick up Serena at a pool party so we said our good byes to mom and all and were on our way.

Its a beaytiful day

The sun rose at about 6am this morning and there's a slight breeze,I saw a squadron of dragon flies go by the back deck , I am sure looking for those nasty mosquito's who have dined on my feet this week while I was attempting to garden in the early mornings.
Calamine lotion  pink is a color I forced to use liberally across my toes.
I'm finally getting a few hours of work for today but it does not look to promising for the rest of the summer as my boss's grandchild is signed up for all kinds of camps and so she does not need me to come in.
I will be putting in an application to Solby's for cashier come August, I need something that generates some cash for me,a few hours do not help top pay a Visa and Sears bills.
Also I don't like for Dan to carry that extra  on his back as well, as hes helping out my daughter till she starts her job, it will take her a few weeks more until she can contribute to her own bills, phone and school .
Have a great day and watch for those pesky bugs!

Away for the weekend

We had a spectacular time away, had fun and swam and sunned and ate and vegged out.
Lake Mississauga  in the Kawartha's is beautiful and clean .
The cottage was unbelievable more like a home with views that were superb from all three levels.
Dan and I went for a canoe ride and then he went kayaking and did some water skiing with our neighbors ...neighbors. We swam and enjoyed a boat ride around the area , went into some lovely coves and bays, Dan also swam across the bay to the point followed by Micheal our neighbors son on his Kayak.Never swim alone.
Dan cannot stay put for too long.
Came home Sunday late in the afternoon , unpacked and watched some TV while doing laundry.
It was a " great weekend" as Dan kept repeating  over and over there and at home. Some things never change.

Happy News!

Last night as some of you know my son Aaron proposed to his girlfriend Donna and she accepted and they are now engaged .We are very happy for them both!
My husband informed me last night that he already knew that Aaron was going to pop the question while they were away.
All the important people in  our lives were informed cause good news should always be shared with those we love.
So the rain and thunder for today does not bring me down at all!
Hope all have a safe and very happy weekend I know I will, I will be toasting to the happy couple , I do hope that Donna managed to get a hold of her mom last night to share their news.Thank you  all for your good wishes.
We are blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family! !

Vampire bugs ...that feed while we sleep

Yesterday during  the extreme heat and then the rain which made everything even more stagnent , the air had no movement what so ever. Those little hungry mosquitoes  made it into the house and where hitting everyone in it.,
I got bit 3 times  in places like the small of your back behind your elbow and the inside of my foot.
My Mom  on her stomach, behind  her thigh , any where you can't get to scratch.
calamine lotion is on the kitchen table,  for quicker access.
Mom is going to my sisters tonight for the weekend as we are away tomorrow to our neighbors cottage that they recently purchased this  last year.We have seen pictures look forward to seeing it in person.
Serena will be home as her boyfriend will be dropping in for a visit.
Gotta go do groceries  and then make a list .but some bug spray, that off dry spray looks promising.

The air is heavy and hot today so keep coo l any way you can..Feels like Florida.

Tueday Physio and My daughters school problems

Today was great morning got up feeling good went to bed at 10 pm. last night.
My daughter revealed on her first day of summer school that she hasn't a clue about what was being taught about, her teacher said she should have started this course of Science math at the grade 9 level and then worked her way up to the 11, she feels this is beneath her and that perhaps she has a memory problem as she can't seem to retain what was taught.
I of coarse said logically I would have taken pr cursor courses  not just jump into something I've never even heard about.
Then I don't ever support her and have no idea what she is going thru, GOD give me Patience!
When someone is determined not to listen at all because apparently she know everything it just becomes argumentative
I never  had a problem with math, I simply went to after school classes and extra classes in the library cause I was bored!.Never did figure out what formula applied to which problems, just figured my own way of getting the answer {the extremely long way} but it was correct.
Drama is her name she rules supreme...god bless her little pointed head.

Now the Physio part went like clock work  and it was good. The End

Guess who came to dinner ....but was thrown out without a cigerette or a blinfold!

Dan I drove drove up to Port Perry and touted around town then went to the Nutty Choclatier for Ice cream strolled down the street towards the lake to sit in the shade of the Park ,which is lovely there, Plenty of shade all the benches are situated in the blazing sun however.Turned round and made our way up again, went into a little shop I frequent and picked up a great shot of the Coliseum on a stretcher frame looks like a huge post card ..Fab....and a Sunny dull mustard colored impish face that looks Romanesque  that is winking he was the only boy face the others were woman.

Called Peg and asked if its all right if drop in-our way out of town,.Gracious as always , stayed just a little over an hour ,cool beers and  had a nice visit even a few blissful moments of toes in the pool while Mr. D admired Mr. N's new mountain all terrain bike.
Home to make dinner for mom, got the BBq going set the table and then put the salmon on and meat for me and mom when Serena came down to inform us that a bird was flying in our hall up stairs how the hell it got in I have no idea, had to have been when some left the front door ajar to put something in the garage.
Mr. D  caught in a towel and set it free no cigarette just the blindfold.
At last the grill was once again going and dinner was served  I went to remove a piece of food from Mr. D's plate which had a small piece of frittata on it  and ended up spilling his glass of  red wine which dripped through the tiles of the table in to my shoes.
Mr. D went into the house mumbling some very rude things and I went to wash my shoes.
When we both got back mom had finished her dinner and announced it had been very exciting , and that to Mr. D spilled wine means good fortune but spilled oil is bad omen.
Dinner although not involving a Mr. Poitier or Spencer Tracy and Ms. Hepburn certainly had a lot to Drama to it.

Eye spy with my wood stained eye.................goop and pain

Yesterday was like any ordinary bizzareo world day, but because it was going so perfectly something had to throw a wrench into it!
I'd just finished putting one coat of stain on top of the kitchen table which I thought was just flat black paint but it wasn't, any how as i place the lid on top of the can it slipped out of my fingers and of coarse it plopped one edge down into the liquid and the can was full so it splattered  right into my face and into my left eye.
Let the screaming begin and burning luckily as I was standing by the kitchen sink  and turned the tap on full blast and started rinsing , my neighbor rushed over as he was in his kitchen as did his son who is in EMS training at this moment , they as well as Serena called 911 , at the hospital they were trying to read the label which conveniently had a sale sticker over the hazard area of the can and what the chemicals were in it.So the had to call poison control for info............then it was 45minutes with this contact lens funnel thing over my eye ball with an entire bottle of IV saline solution to constantly wash over it, my knees where shaking the whole time not to mention my kidneys really needed a bathroom but you could not move. After it was removed an eye exam to see if there was any thing left in the eye or behind it which required they freeze your eye, it seemed all clear except for a small cut in the upper corea which the doctor said should heal on it own , I'll get a second opnion from my eye doctor just to make sure and some eye antibiotic's  to prevent infection.
It was a crappy day but thankfully the damage was minimal.

The lesson here is  throw out the old and  or give it away  and or buy new screw this trying to fix crap over! So not worth it.

Thru the woods and down the path to the physio torture I go!....hehehe

I went to physio this morning and arrived amazinly enough 20 minutes early , I gavce myself lots ot time as I walked there and back after, did some new routines and some old ones as well.
Came home to find a large puddle of water beside the fridge and dishwasher had no idea from whence it came, emptied entire fridge and pulled it away from wall vacumed behinmd it and washed the floor and vacumed the coils then pushed it back.
Cleaned the inside and refilled it , lets hope it was just  someone being careless with emptying the dishwasher or putting something back into the fridge.
I then did some left over laundry and was going to paint and sand the kitchen table , when looking for a paint brush came across a tin of paint that had the lid half off and upside down in a plastic tray ,,,,thank God, and not all over the basement floor, just as I was cleaning that up Dan called to inform me the car was acting weird and he was taking it into our mechanic for an assessment.
Perfect that was three I am done, At 4 pm I get my teeth cleaned and thats it for me today.
Its Pasta dinner or nothing I am pooped.
have a great day

2 Woman 2days .........................Let the shopping begin!

On Thursday night my husband informed me that on Saturday there was a birthday party for one of those running women{June} yeah right love to go NOT!
This weekend my son Aaron came on Friday to have his annual deck party which he is now hosting with Donna.
I was sitting waiting for their arriveial when the phone rang, It was Marion  Her husband Stephen and his son and the dog were gone to the cottage did I want to come for the weekend, sign me up I said I'm packing now ,but it'll be after Dan gets home to drive me.
No problem , so I proceeded to make dinner and pack just as I put the pork chops on the grill the kids arrived and then Dan, we ate el fresco and then Dan drove me to Marion's then he picked up the giant tarp to cover our entire deck for Aaron's party on Saturday as it was scheduled to rain most of the day and it did.
Friday night was spent on Marion's front deck with wine and munchies , then we moved to the living room to watch Alice in Wonderland, its a great movie, I enjoyed it. we watched some DYS shows then went to bed, I slept in Spencer s Room woke up unbelievability  at 715 am , usually its 5am for me 6 at the latest.

Saturday morning we rose and showered and ventured out in torrential  rain , first the Pine ridge garden centre
I bought a pot and some large daisies and tree fertilizer. Then we hit the Ajax Lob laws super store, were I bought a really nice long shall black vest  handkerchief  front.
There we ran into Dan and Aaon and Donna shopping for their party, we left quickly, off to home Depot for black paint  and a new drapery pole for my kitchen , paint reduced to 1.00, rod 39.99 for 21.00 , then on to Pier one for an 80.00 lamp for 16.00 , one candle a ceramic slipper for tooth picks..........moving on to Chapters no books were bought by me but by Marion. She chose " The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo "series............
Drove west again o the new Shoppers Drug Mart near Rouge Hill, bought to orange citrus body washes that's it.
Hit Swiss chalet at 4 pm, then went home for more drinks and crashed, we were supposed to go to a Strawberry Margaretta party down the street but we passed and made our own drinks and chilled it was great .Just sitting on her covered font deck listening to the party noises and  listening to the rain.
Went to bed, learned in the morning that downtown had violence and no go trains would be working , phoned Aaron at my house he had just called a cab to take him and Donna to her new place near Yorkdale as downtown was off limits.
Came home around 10.30 and unpacked did some laundry cleaned up and reorganized what the kids didn't put away and then Serena came home from her party were she'd had spent the night wouldn't have happened if I was home,Then Dan rolled in 3 hours later from cycling and now hes been gone for over 2 a hours again to talk to some guy about his running classes hes will be teaching again...............................

Something wicked , wind and rain beware.........yeah right

Well yes it did rain and hard rain it was , Dan had undid the canopy last night or it would have torn with the weight of the water  on it. The humid ex is through the roof, but at least the sun has made an appearance  and the birds have come out of hiding to do there morning recitals.
I'm sure downtown the police were scrambling through the downpour.

Yesterday evening when going out to put garbage in the garage I noticed a sign  in front  of the deck garden, it said my garden was elected by someone as being very pretty  by the town of Ajax, how cool is that !

Well my mom has decided to go home today , she has been here since last Friday, hadn't noticed  it was that long . She loves to shop for groceries my mom ,just wish she'd gotten out on to walking around the block more.

Rememberto day Italy plays .......................Forza Azzura! Power to the Blue!Ciao belli

Here comes the sun lets hope it stays, or I'll be glum!

I gardened and pulled weeds this morning and did some laundry and listened to my aunt talk about her teeth situation, and then I sweated up stairs while doing my physio!
I am now going out side to  read.
I am reading " la bella Linguia Italian " the beautiful Italian language, its a humorous account of how various words and phrases came to be Incorporated into Italian from Latin German Spanish French .

Italians and Veal sandwiches and Roving drum bands OH MY!

Yesterday morning the mangia cake and I went to Vaughn to pick up the Italians and take them to the Italian street Festival on collage street. We were going to see the world cup game Italy against New Zea land, of coarse due to traffic and 45 minutes looking for Parking a very large Van, we ended up arriving at our destination the incomparable Sicilian Cafe', arrived 10 minutes before the game ended. At lest it was a tie, there would have been blood other wise.
We all got seated 11 of us that met up there, ordered our food the Best Veal sandwiches with red peppers and mushrooms and sauce and cheese so gooey , it was melt in your mouth, wine and beer flowed and my cousin Frank and his band played right across the street to entertain us while we ate.
After words we walked around and took in the sites and various vendors and gelato, I bought a knock off purse for 9.99 its fabulous as did the 2 aunts and Mary, my poor daughter Serena and her taste couldn't find anything she liked and then back to Franks tent, were my aunt Vera who is 80 got to the mike and sang a duet with my cousin as her sister and franks wife Mary danced to Volarie! It was so cute and fun, then we spent the nest 30 minutes trying to find my uncle Frank
who wandered into the wrong restaurant  and had himself a n espresso and conversation with the owner who was according to him half Scotch and Italian , how is this possible my uncle asked. That they owned a restaurant or that they married we questioned.
After 5 hours of tom foolery went drove them back and left for home , hot stuffed and relieved.

Moma told me not to come.

Mom arrived last night at around 9pm I was not here to greet her as I had made plans to go out with my friend Donna and Isabelle,Dan saw to her needs. Also Serena was home too.
I got in at midnight, zonked. Those girls can drink coffee like there 's a shortage of beans about to happen they , I stick to decaf  at night.

This morning mom cleaned my fridge and swept the floors , I basically did diddly.
Then she phoned Italy twice spoke to my aunt in Connecticut and then to my aunt in Scarborough.

When Dan comes home we'll take her to Reitmans at the Durham center and Lori's  and then to Costco.
Out to lunch , then home, at least that's the plan.
Its drizzled a bit , hoping it will just pass by  have a great day .
Hey out there the comment box works.

Two Dragons and Aunt Vera arrive from Sicily

MY uncle Frank Dargon and my aunt Theresa Dragon and my Vera Berttinni arived at my cousin Mary's house
yesterday. We got there around 4pm My cousin Joe picked up my mom and his mom to take over there earlier, so they all ate together for the first time in eons.
My cousin Mary's house looks very nice from the outside, it is a work of Italian decor on the inside , stunning.
Although I am Sicilian I like clean lines and not a lot of stuff , more french country casual . If I can ever get somebody to paint my dining room set white I'd be happy.
We all had a lovely time , my aunt Vera has informed me that now they are teaching dialect in the schools so that it doesn't die out, kinda like they teach Gaelic in Scotland for the same reason.
I could easily go and teach as I only spoke that for the first 15 years of my life.Learning Italian after.
Its a beautiful day and i'm going to enjoy it now, take care
Have a great day and remember to keep those electronic gadgets out of trouble.

Rain in , Rain out, its raining all about!

Holy molly its like a wall of water out side the intensity of the rain this morning, beating down on my newly opened peonies, although it makes every thing emerald green , a little color wouldn't hurt but the flower heads haven't a chance being beaten down by giant rain drops.
Those of us with arthritis  cringe when getting up on days like this, but once up and joints get lubricated by an assortment of liniments we are good to go with in reason.

World cup and that buzz, Monday's game had me holding my breath, I 'm for Italy ,but that buzz coming off the TV was driving me nuts. I am happy it was a tie although a win...so much better.
I agree that the ziparumbazoo noise maker is a cultural thing and should be respected , however can they just blow on it when something important happens  and not so consistently .
Or can the broadcasting just mute it more so that the commentary can be heard a little more sharper.

I'm stepping down from my soap box now.
Today my aunts and uncle are arriving from Connecticut via from Rome and by Sicily, so my mom will see 3 of her sister  all at once the first time in 38 years .I'm sure it will be very emotional.
We are all meeting t my cousin Frank and Maria Palmeri's in Richmond Hill were two of the aunts and an uncle will be staying during this time.
Wear your wellies and a raincoat and check the basement from time to time ,hope for sun tomorrow.

Morning is boring like the weather warning!Hey a phone call from way back when!

This morning was dreary as usual then around 9 am the sun peeped throe for what an hour and in the time I went to Wally Mart to pick up 2 more chairs for our out door patio table.Dan drove up as he was going in later today.
After he went to work and I did the laundry and sat out for a few minutes with my second coffee, the miniature  canaries  are quite abundant this year there were at least 4 couples.
Serena and her boyfriend were still asleep up stairs in separate rooms ...I think...I've never peeked.
I am going to make Panellies for Dinner tonight , they are made from chick pea flour and salt and water, but they taste outta this world. Its a veagen dish. They fry up like lite airy pancakes and you put them between Italian crusty bread..
This past weekend my husband Dan and brother Robert and his friend Andrew did the ride for Cancer in memory of my sister in law Barbra, Roberts wife who passed away last year.
It took 2 days and 1 night, to get to Niagara Falls,200 kilometers a day.
They were provided tents and showers and food and entertainment .They raised as a group 5000.00 dollars
I attended my friend Marion's  and Stephens 25th anniversary ,it was held at their home, went over all day Friday and helped in every manner of ways .
The party was wonderful and their was tons of food and drinks and fun conversation and Marion was presented with a Chop saw , she was thrilled along with that an emerald  ring in white gold, stunning setting.Stephen got the bill, it all worked out.

And back to day, I got a call from Kathy Summers, the sister of  my first high school boyfriend Micheal. We connected via face book, had lovely chat , she has reconnected with Tom Hastings  whom she knew in high school and commented that  he has a lovely family ,she has a daughter and a son I believe.
Its nice to re connect with old friends if only to catch up and know their doing well.
Talk to you soon { you know who you are Ms.P}

Rain and blood

Sounds ominous doesn't it but its not, went to the drug store and got a free diabetes test from a nurse practitioner there , it took one prick and that was it,I'm good , no worries as far that is concerned.
The rain continued well into the evening made 3 bean soup it was great and toasted Italian bread with cheese and oregano, nummies.
I saw the movie NINE last night, what a disappointment , it just basically sucked , Penelope Cruise as his mistress  and Fergie from black eyed peas as the whore he went to see as a child.
The musical numbers for Fergie and Kate Hudson  were great.
Not a movie I'd see again.
Gotta run and get things going , have a great day.

Rain and wind equal achey Me.

This morning was a day for Tylenol arthritis medication for sure , it was damp and cold and rainy and windy , the only pleasure it warranted was a yellow wild canary with a black stripe who sat on my fence, it sat throe the drizzle for 5 minutes then flew away in a shot just like a bullet BIONG>>>>>
Then I got dressed and went to the store to buy some witch hazel which is an excellent astringent, also good for scrapes and cuts. The things you learn in history books, who knew.I also got in a aluminum foil sale 99 cents bought 4 at pharma plus and they had a nurse doing Diabetes testing so I had one and am well below any thing worth being concerned about , celebrated with a cream puff from Solby's.
Came home and blogged and face booked and emailed and then and now saying get a book and curl up in the chair have a tea and ignore any house work I am.

Here came the sun

Was it not lovely to wake up to the sun and hear the cardinals calling each other , not the two old guys with the yamaca and red and white robes the feathered ones in the tree's, had coffee on the deck,  sat in the new chair which is like silk screen light and not hard as plastic.
Did some laundry then went to the store after my daughter went for a job interview.
She phoned to complain about the lack of bus service and that she of all people had to wait , and that this was only her first interview and there would be two more to be had, who are they hiring for Fort Knox of Canada I asked its Staples for God sake , paper products for Offices.I had to pretend to be horrified  I am her mother after all.
well I guess you can never be too careful.
Remember the day when you went for a job and asked and they say yeah come back tomorrow and you would and then fill an application after you'd worked the day, and you had the job till High school ended practically unless you went some where else.
There are no longer such jobs for adults nor young people , longevity is a thing of the past in the job market  for this time , we hope for more stability .
Have a great day and enjoy the sun.

Pictures from the land far far and away in Europe before the ash AD

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=15162&id=536350726&l=24aafae31bhttp://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=15174&id=536350726&l=7facd16865

These are some of the pictures from Italy and some from my home town of Sicily featuring Cousin Oscar and his daughter and my cousin Maclovia's son Antonio with his dog and Aaron , also the family crypt were my dad is .
There are views from the cousins villa looking down on the town view of the Harbor from the boardwalk as we call it here . Hope you enjoy them Peg. Some are tagged with info under them.

The rain that never stops...for Petes sake!

I know we are in desperate need of Aqua for the grass and the flowers but was last night not enough, it rained so hard and so long we had to go out on to the deck every 10 minutes to poke out the excess water that was accumulating in pockets on the canopy. It was like Niagara fall when it came down ,I soaked my entire left side Dan's shoes and my jacket this went on till 11pm.
At that point I called it quits and went up for a shower , liniment rub on ouchy parts, took an Aleve and fell asleep in my sons old room , every time I tried to roll over in my bed I hit Dan either in the leg or the head.
Went back to my bed at 3.30 am and slept till 7 am.  will putter around the house but first got to go to the drug store .Its going to you" know" again later today .
I guess I should not have knocked all those spiders off the veranda roof over the front door.I got creeped out every time I stepped out and down they came like the last curtain call.
Then there was an inch long one on my newly painted ceiling in the family room which I knocked down with a broom but he ran behind the TV.were the wires are, ain't going there.

Weekend

Saturday was hot and breezy here in Ajax, did laundry and cleaned and vacuumed then went out with Marion my girlfriend, did some shopping and lunch then back home, finished off the vacuuming and read and watched TV. not much else to do and no one home to talk to, Dan away as usual to Ottawa and Serena away to boyfriend.
 Went to bed 10 pm.
Sunday was more of the same , painted center hall bathroom doing touch ups were Dan allegedly repaired  things of course ,  re stained bamboo carpet in family room on the deck ,  watered plants and watched tv.
Later made my self hamburger and sat on deck to read a magazine , came in watched more tv, then showered and went to bed.
Going for a walk to the lake maybe run into someone to talk to, its pretty boring when there 's no one to exchange a word with.
Going to sign up at the rec center as well.

Alone again naturally

The runny man has gone off to Ottawa  with those people, my daughter has gone off to Bradford for the boyfriend,I have stayed put as usual.
Well  it seems sometimes the best laid plans never get to happen, was supposed to see sex and the city , was dressed and ready to go but work called , so poor Marion who'd been up since 6 had to work till 3 in the afternoon, She needed to take care of Hope her dog and chill and that's fine ,I called Donna and went out for a quick ice coffee came home and passed out on the coach till 11 pm then went to bed.Basically running around to get things done so one could go out and then doesn't.t wears you out.
Weird thing the stereo int he dining-room came on as I was going up to bed, came back down and turned it off. Then the dinning room lite came on , I think there is a power surge somewhere.
Boo!

A little Sicilian history concering my village Termini Imerese

Short Story No. 4: There are many stories involving King Ferdinando di Borbone. One is about two Sicilian farmers, one from Trabia and one from Termini Imerese, both towns located in province of Palermo. When the King traveled through Trabìa, a farmer offered him a bucket of figs and while waiting to receive something in return, the King offended said to him: "By giving me this bucket of figs, do you think I am a poor starving person?" and had his guards cast him away. This news spread very fast and when the King traveled through Termini Imerese, a cleverer farmer approached the King and offered him a bucket of pears, declaring: "A gran signori, pìcciulu prisenti!/To a great man, a small gift". The king liked those kind words so much that not only did he thank the farmer, but also gave him a bag full of golden coins. He was a French King from the Boubon line of Louie the 14th

Druge jobs that never go away.

Had to clean all the bathrooms the other day and do 6 loads of laundry no towels left in the linen closet after Serena and Dave showered 3 billion times during the weekend , along with dusting and reorganizing etc..I got to have a lovely luke warm spritz.
Today vacuumed the downstairs and then will wash the floors after Serena gets up, then will vacuum upstairs.
First I will put on the air conditioner.
Peg I know you will go in the pool , how great it that , I'll throw a glass of cold water on myself on the deck.

The Unusuall Suspects Dinner and Dance..There was a whole lota shaking going on!

Dinner in Port Perry can only be described as an event any time it happens , its never dull always fun and way too much fabulous food, followed by singing and dancing and general murder and mayhem, sans the Murder part. The elusive Mr. D was on deck along with his lovely daughter Genevieve{ please excuse if I misspelled}.
Elle était une belle jeune femme charmante et très douce!Drinks were a plenty as was conversation and then the mayhem began.
Neil and Jerry the keepers of the barbecue flame had some minor problems but  due to Jerry 's intuitive  thinking ans Neil concurred  they were fixed, then Mr. D commenced with the plate dropping Op ah, which led to singing in the kitchen by the Twixie Chicks, 2 sang one not so much , yes that was me, tone deaf.James Taylor and Carol King  gotta love that music.
Dinner was served and the paparazzi arrived without invitations, any shots there fore seen on face book have all been duped!
More wine and laughs Backus would have fit right in, then a musical interlude of various music styles { thanks Gen for introducing us to them}
Later it was outside and the wine flowed and the glasses were raised and more singing along with Mr. Marley and the Wailers not to mention some funky rap and hard rock, the piece di resistance  Lynole Ritchie who sent Mr.D dancing on the ceiling. This caused the lovely Gem's wine glass to literally leap up and kill itself.
After cleaning up, desert was served ala Maya Angelou Banana Pie, Yummy.
Dan and I left under a bridge of music and dance led by Mr.D and a conga line of f the deck , were we drove off  into the dark night and I am positive the real hardy party was still going on.

Happy love thursday,,,yeah you heard right

Last Saturday night was my sister Lucy's husbands birthday ,God that's a mouth full!
He turned 40, yes he is younger than herself. It was surprise, which went off brilliantly .Not that hes younger the party.
Good time was had by all.
Also I  was  going through face book when who should appear but someone who is called David Meaner.

His picture looks like he's been held up as a hostage... then I should talk I look like a blond Chinese person.
LOL 8o).
No contact was made ,nor will be, seeing him once in a blue moon is enough .
Last night I went Home depot and bought a garden flag with 4 red lady bugs on it , cute,  they charged me 2.00
it had the stand as well, hey I'm not complaining.
Consider this the rubber paving stones of last week which were 3.49 each suddenly jumped to 9.99 each wanted 6 came home with nil.
THERE IS SOMETHING LOOPY GOING ON IN THAT STORE .
I will now go clean the bathroom.
Also, this lady who works with Dan saw me limping cause my other leg knee is acting up fluid, so she came over with this liniment, the throbbing is gone doesn't hurt to get out sitting position nor roll over in bed, amazing . It 's high in Caspian which is an anti inflammatory ingredient and it costs 25.00
as soon as I get the name I'm ordering it and will pass that info on.

Toddler turns forty and holding pattern

Lucy's husband Todd turned 40 the other night , she threw a surprise birthday bash for him at a bar the Four corners in Whitby.
It was great to see so many familiar faces and some unfamiliar ones as well.
There was great conversations and tasty food and drinks with lots of ice .
The ice you need when your having a flash..........drink ....crunch ice...............
My cousin Alex told me an easy way to cut and paste photo's.
My cousin Johnny was there and Sue  but Pat was sick coming down with something.
Then Robert showed up and so did Joe and Lisa , as did Andrew Pett Shelly was under the weather so she did not come.
The Birthday cake had the funniest picture of Todd at about 2 years old , was a hoot.
His parents were there and  his sister Dawn and step brothers as well.

Got home around 12 am and went for a tea and then bed . woke up at six this morning.
Had a lay down on the couch till 7.30 then had a tea and some cereal then banana and then 2 scrambled eggs no toast .
Gave my side table another coat of white paint in the family room and then sat out in the sun and sprayed the handles of the table black.
Its going to be a beautiful day and Aaron is in Aruba of f the coast of Venezuela with Donna I know having a great time .
I am thankful to God and all spirits who helped in the cancellation of his flight to Iceland, however I feel awful that Jason could 't get to go to Aruba because they hike the prices almost to double for one person.

It was a mother of a weekend!

For scoare and seven years ago mothers day was played out at my lovely sisterlaw Barb's House, we brought food and darnk and had a lovely afternoon.

Barb is gone and so has the joy of getting together, although sometimes  various  illness and or coordination don't  allow it to come together, but none the less the joy is gone.
  I miss it very much.

Sock it to You

Can you believe that hurdling a socket across 3 feet of family room is a sign of aggression.
Apparently in Ajax , in my house according to Mr. your" So aggressive "at me any an and every opportune moment he can, throws  this comment in, said to me while I was folding laundry.
He ended his tirade with that my son and daughter also think it too.
Then he went upstairs to slam the door after I took the laundry up and came back down.
So I in mature fashion took his Boston Marathon tea cup and slammed it into the sink , were unfortunately it didn't shatter.
No one spoke to each other again that night, however at 2.30 in the morning he rolled over and fell out of bed, I felt vindicated, but alas he blamed me for having thrown the covers over on him,
WELL IF HE DIDN'T WEIGH 12 OZES THEN MAYBE HE COULD FIGHT OFF THE COVERS. LOL 8)

Where in the world is Plastiki

You may ask what is Plastiki, Its a a catamaran may entirely of plastic bottles and is sailing around the world documenting  garbage flows in our oceans , there are 6 which follow the currents of the Ocean , one is believed to be 90 feet deep, its located of the coast of American in the Pacific between Australia.
Right now they are located off I believe is Little Island in what is commonly known as the dead zone . Hardly any air currents  to push your sails.

I at home am in the mists of cleaning and then having a shower and washing my stringy greasy hair YUK.
Yesterday I potted some Petunias and bought more soil and generally over did it.
Watched Grey s last night while Dan was away talking about running to another group of recently brainwashed  runners.
came home then went upstairs to watch CSI dead heads.
I went to bed at 11 pm.

mama Mia here we go again!

My mom was feeling very despondent the other day Tuesday to be  precise, so I asked my younger brother Robert to go and bring her to my house, where she seemed to perk up.I  went  to the store to get her anything she might want to eat or prepare, then came home and made dinner preps because I had to be at work later in the afternoon, went to work and left her in my daughters care.
My sister dropped in to bring her some items she'd forgotten at home and she went into the depression mode again, My sister told told as did i she has to stop thinking that way , she is in relativity great health for 82 and she should be thankful , she has her own teeth good grief. Most of mine crowns .
When I got home she had not eaten what I rushed to make but just a small bowl of pasta.....breathe and count to ten. fine ...I ate it and Serena did as well, then my waist flotation muffin was called out," were did that come from are you getting fat."I replied the same place yours came from MOM." Let the games begin.

Run Mr. Runny Pants Run

Mr Runny Pants aka Skelatore aka hey you aka Dan ran for the millionth time the Boston Bean Marathon, called me today to tell me he finished "my comment NO REALLY" he then told me he shaved off I think 3 seconds , I was between a yawns so I'm not really sure.
Also please ignore previous blog , happened due to sleep deprivation yadda yaddda yadda . How am doing so far and I went to work today.Got a raise  yippie. more gum for me.
Gotta go turn on the dishwasher and then go to bed again.

Sneezy whezzy and MAI NOUSE ID STUFFED UP!

Yesterday when I went out with friend Anna in her car which her beautiful dog Sunny rides shot gun  most of the time, I inhaled billions upon billion's of dog dander and hair or fur.
Spent most of last night awake trying to get it out of my airways. Woke up feeling like my head was in a large plastic drum, Ka Thump blow and then sneeze.
It is starting to dissipate slowly but Shirley ...LOL...
I planted my Dahlia in the front garden lets hope it takes,I trimmed my licorice bush for the Monarch butterfly's to come and visit.
Caught up on the latest news about Iceland's Volcano , sound s like it wont be receiving any tourist for quite a while. The ash and toxicity spewing are now also flowing south.
They said it could take up to a year, to settle down.
I think this has to do with the fact that most of Iceland is thermos  hot pools and lava  and this makes for a terrifying mix.
Although my son and his Donna were  set to go there on May 15th , I am glad this happened while they were at home and not there with no way to fly out. Yes money may be lost but they will be well and safe.
I'm going to pay the dentist now and get something for lunch and mail some letters.

Can it get any stupider?

Woke up this morning at 5.30 am and went down stairs , made coffee, looked out living room window and thought who took our car. I was under the mistaken impression given by my husband earlier this week he was leaving for Boston this morning. He would never drive our car there.
came back upstairs and noticed suitcases behind bedroom door still here, maybe he went for milk as we left our milk at the supermarket some how yesterday and did not realize it till 10.30 pm last night when he came down for a glass. Nope I thought 1/2 hour later , were can he be, still under the il;illusion he was leaving this morning, so as my daughter got up to have cereal with no milk I thought I'd  c all his cell," I'm at work he replied "when" I said were are you?"Mystery solved and daughter went to work in a tiff. Black coffee for me and laundry and wash the floors and do the bathrooms .Will go for walk later, need more coffee.
Received great photo's from friend Nancy and lover boy , touring around the windy city. Do these people never work?

Forgot to call my mom of which she reminded me ,fell asleep on the couch as usual no one came down to talk to me no one sat with me except when they ate.
What is the point of even being in this here other than cleaning up after other peoples crap.
I am going to do a little experiment, I will no longer cook for them nor clean their stuff just my things, not put they're things away were they belong just leave everything where they leave it. organize my meals and see if they notice a difference. The plot thickens and the games  afoot. Watson ....I mean Peg.

ITS HIP HIP HORAY....NO SIGN OF INFECTION

SO THERE WAS NO SIGH N OF INFECTION ,WHICH WOULD HAVE MEANT HAVING ANOTHER SURGERY AND HIP REPLACEMENT.Marion came as moral support and in the event I attempted mad surgery on my surgeon. However the Cat scan showed fluid on my fat fanny butt near the sighatic nerve which he believes is the reason for the tightness  in the leg.Advil extra strength for 2 weeks twice a day. This should decrease the fluid inflammation.
The other thing they discovered is I have osteoarthritis in my knees[both] my other hip and in my right foot.
My scan showed dark dots on these area's. looked like a stick man with the dots being the joint area.
Marion looked more closely on the screen I get squeamish looking at my insides.
So now I need my G>P> to send me to a arthritic specialist and determine a round of treatment , natural is what I prefer to chemical but if I could combine the both along with exercise I will.
That's it in a nut shell. Thank you God it was not more surgery, I will do whatever to decrease the chances for other parts being surgically fixed as well if possible.Pray for Me.

Its [drum role please ] the day of information on whats up with my hip leg problem, also Internaitional Hail to the Peg Day

On this auspicious  Day, International Peg Day, celebrations are being held all over Ireland any one named Peg knows a Peg is married to a Peg and has a shaved head  and whose first initial starts with N ,related  to a Peg or met a Peg in passing , ate with one danced with one or saw one from a distance you have been blessed.
When I get the results today I'll post them , good or bad I'm hoping for the first fingers crossed.
Marion is bringing Kleenexes and ear plugs in the event I start telling people off.Another friend who has my back.Well I'm going now  so later .

I wish it wouldn't rain..its grey and dull and I ache for sunshine

So this morning I  was hoping for a not so stressful day as the least , it started at 5.30  came downstairs and emptied the dishwasher while the coffee was perking , could hear the rain at the patio door..ping ping ping  consistent and steady{ yes yes means the same thing] what are you the dictionary police.
By 7 am Serena was up and ready to eat and go to work , thankfully found her mini umbrella in the hall closet when I organized after the dishes and between coffee's ..impressed yet, I'm not I 'm pooped!
Called Maryann after Serena's departure and had a lovely yak about nothing in particular , after hanging up I got stuff ready to wash yet again the kitchen floor, which because of my new runners with the grafitght sole leave charming cave renditions of the bottom of my feet like wall painting only on the floor. Not even museum quality all smudgy and loopy.
My Aunt called to inform me my mother has taken herself to the hospital emergency because of bowl pain shes been having. That she is waiting to be seen and that she will call me later. I phone my sister and share the wealth , then lose all interest in any more back breaking work.
Opted for a shower and then mom called still waiting to have tests done and she'll  call again.
no word so far its past 3pm now. I'll go and phone the emerge ward and see if any thing are happening.

Fog and Sun and damp and heat{ were are we in Malasia}

I awoke to a blanket of fog down here by the lake.
This led to a foggy head  so that I could stub my foot and then swear like a sailor , which led to me ms stepping and more swearing FNKN<
I then spoke to Rashid, who probably lives on a tropical island in the Philippines and or Dubai.Gave over all per taint info , and awaited  his response which went like this......Your not on the LIST....Me....WHAT LIST....Your MOM'S LIST...MY MOTHER HAS A LIST.....YES AND YOUR NOT ON IT!.....CLICK...DIALING...Mom dial this number ...give this code...then press3 and wait and ask for Rashid.
Then tell him to put me on YOUR LIST...okay says she.....Call back discuss why a woman who lives alone some how gets sent a bill for...wait for it......$1,160.65 for 17 days of Hydro!
Oh its an estimate.... hello was no one looking at her previous month bill of 336.00 LOSERS
Meter man goes to read meter when no one home or in the store below the flat so gets to pick random numbers out of thin air to give elderly people HEART-ATTACKS!
I am going out to the store now and then will make some soup ...and do more laundry and figure out why My mother received a letter about a pension from the Italian Army for my departed dad who never served OMG!....

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Rainy days and Tuesdays bunched with weeping phone calls.

It was a crappy day today becasue of the cold and rain and so I was in a foule not fowel mood.
I overcame it and accomplished  quite a bit.
Then called my mom after I returned from the store, bad idea !
She was very weeping and felt lenta , lenta weak that is , her pain in her nether regions was acting up and she hadn't felt like eating , I convinced her to eat some bread, along with her oatmeal.
She got a letter from the Italian consulate wanting to know if she was still alive, as she receives a tiny pension from my fathers pension.I said I'd look into that, then she went on to say the electric bill had come and they want 1,o40 .00 She said it said estimate , I said we don't pay the 1,040 dollars just what she usually pays.
She got upset and said the electric company wants to rob her blind cause she's old. I explained that this has been done to her before and that we will call and it will be fine. Then she said she didn't want to live any more , I said don't be silly , the electric company is so not worth it.
Then she said she didn't want to live in house anymore and I said she can come live with me.That she was lonely.
I said she could have Aaron s old room and will just move the computer in to the hall way and put doors back on his closet.
It was a sad  and despondent day for her.
I hope tomorrow will be better.I hate that she feels this way sometimes.

Siclian Kisses ,Lime Cordials Port Perry ..The mini Series!

Friday afternoon ,Dan came home from his 3,000 kl. run and asked if I 'd like to take a drive to Port Perry, sure  but let me see if my friends Peg and Hubby are busy ,as I was not sure if their company was expected that day of the next, did not wish to intrude.Peg answered and said not busy but do come up and come for dinner. We declined dinner but said we'd visit, she claims at that time to have been setting the dinner table were she could allegedly be heard dropping two more plates on the dinning room table. Hey, She never lied to me before, I had no reason to doubt her. Also joining us would be her friends Jamie and Jerry,I was hoping for Ben and Jerry but what the heck, they are an adorable couple and seem to tolerate us well enough.
The next guest was the elusive Mr. M. from Montreal, brother to Peg's hubby.
We brought up a bottle of martini  mix called Sicilian Kiss, which we the three ladies proceeded to enjoy , the men alternated between beers or Caesars, delicious munchies and silly conversations ensued.

Music was retro a little Hendrix possibly the lost years ,Jerry had on a snazzy Hendrix T with velvet flocked hair, caused copious feeling up of Jerry's chest by several people, I refuse to name names, { one whose first initials  or two with letters P. J and N.

Minus the pole dancing which Mr. M  from Montreal refused to participate, shot it right down , after all it was him standing right in front of the umbrella pole ,That gave someone I don't recall who the idea.
One has respect that some people just are not spontaneous that  way.

Several lime cordials , talk of tans and sea lost glasses and riptides and trains and travels , children and all , the grill was  ignited , the scent of dinner and into the house we went, leaving the men to cook the meat.
Dinners was superb as usual, Pork lion and tender chicken and a fabulous cranberry bread { need this recipe} with green salad and mixed Bean salad.
Thank you to whoever invented stretchy fibers for jeans.

To end the evening a little rock singing in the kitchen followed by bar stool twirling compliments of Mrs. K. and myself.Coffee and scrumptious chocolate gooey something cake.

Great evening with terrific people, thanks so much!!

Good Friday.......

On this day Catholics all over refrain from eating meat and most importantly go to church to re walk the stations of the cross, this to commemorate Christ 's route on his way to his crucifixion.
As a very lax Catholic mostly because I have a problem swalloing alot of doctrine when it concerns pedifile priests.
I have always believed that God lives in all of us and that its up to us {free will} to live the best joyful and loving life as possible..I do believe we are spiritual beings who inhabit this human form to experience  lessons learned.
Like Karma , if you don't learn it the first time you come back till you do.
I wish you Love and tranquility today and the joy of family even those we don't always like or get along with.

Happy Easter !

Fools and men who think without their brains!

I am sick to tears about all these alleged sex addicts, lets call a spade a spade they are in fact male whores.
You only have to look at the women they have these affais with and the women they did this to.
I know none of us really knows what happens with in the confines of a marriage bed, nor do we want to, however if it don't rock your world  then say bye bye!
One affair, two affairs three affairs , unprotected sex, phone texts emails and strippers.
Welcome to the wide world of stupid......

Also can dancing with Stars get any more annoying....someone  do something about that Gosling women, gag her  tie her up and send her home to those poor children.
Not that I'm a fan of Shannon Dortery but please at least her legs actually bent when she was dancing, Goslings barely moved, also she looked like a cheap hooker at a chicken ranch.
Her face has had some botox that's a fact and what's with the hair.
That's it I'm done , going to get some clothes on and go'" walking with my scars"

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

I'm back.... not that any one is rushing to read this but......

It is April 1.. Fools Day and  here I sit again trying to create a blog people would enjoy reading, I was told by my dear friend Peg, that she does, so on that recommendation I am going to try again.
So I go again Peg, Early this morning I lopped out of bed and began my day, after washing my face and twisting my hair out of my face I turned on the computer.
